Second coat on the timing cover

Ok, so today I started reassembly of this big ol' engine and got about half ways through. Got the bottom end all buttoned up. Next is the head and then the components such as Ac compressor ps pump alternator etc.

Not replacing that rod?, the others can have damage to, mostly not visible only measure. Might do it later from below when engine is in?
This is the worst while youre there I know, good luck but if you have time find a better one.

Ok I dont know but I am missing the actual repair? re-grinding the valves so they close better, removing the cylinder glaze? new pistons?
If you only clean it I dont think it will stop using oil?

I suppose it is only forward working and not looking back, what a job if you do it first time and every step need to think over twice, a simple winch connections takes me weeks to arrange :hmm:

Oh, lol, I did replace the bent rod. I did rebuild the head too but unfortunately I don't always have the time to stop and take pictures. Cylinders were honed as well. It's slow going but I'm trying to get her done before thanksgiving. Ill try to post more pictures as I go along.

Quick update, I have sent out my injectors for testing and calibration this morning. I am confident that this engine will be complete and back in the truck this weekend. I wish I'd sent out those injectors sooner, as I'd be attempting to get it going this weekend. Starting the newly rebuilt engine is now probably going to take place on Monday night or Tuesday night. Fingers crossed. Will button everything up in the interim.

So last evening I put on the head and started getting stuff buttoned up. It's starting to come back together.

Thanks, I think that even the slightly inclined mechanic can do a rebuild on an engine like this. Its pretty simple but time consuming. However, if we were to just work with brand new parts and all the mating surfaces were magically cleaned and ready to be bolted together ahead of time, than a build could take no more than a day I think.

@beno, thanks for the parts, got them last night. U can see the filter is on already. Those precups were wonderful to look at, lol. Easy to install as well.

Oh yeah, I'll b filming the first start as early as Tuesday. I'd have done it this weekend but I delayed the injector testing for too long

Thank you. Maybe the thread lacks a little in the pic department, but that is b cause my 4year old hogs my phone all the time so sometimes I have no camera available...

Ready to be mated to the tranny tcase combo. Cleaning those as I type.

If you want to add a block heater do it now, not the one I did but the one under the edic.
Good is 35 mm, wrong is 30 mm but both fit in the engine.

I had one. Took it off. Don't really need it as the truck is garaged. I want my engine bay to be as close to stock as possible.

Ok so I thought I'd be dropping in the engine but ran out of time tonight. I guess tomorrow night s another day.

Injectors got here. Had them tested and reshimmed. They were on the bottom of allowable spec.

Well done mate. Looking forward to that first turn of the key. This is what I need to do but it's our family transport and no back-up so I'd be sweating it.
