Patina-Italian word for "rust I would rather not take care of so let's convince folks that it's cool"

Patina is actually a Latin word, not Italian - there's a difference. But thanks anyway.

Cutting it out it shall be then...

It was merely a joke. Patina, to me, is a word that is way over used, much like restoration. My personal favorite, faked patina. I had a 40 come through the shop a couple years back that had been sanded through in several areas to different layers of paint and then satin clear coated. The truck had been cleaned up, frame painted (lots of over spray) and flipped for a nice profit.

Jon, it is from Awl_Teq, he has a thread here: Awl_TEQ Metal Parts etc.. It truly is beautiful.

It does look great. It also looks like a couple of rear qtr patches are needed. Would make fixing that stuff much easier.

Like these.

I've been looking at the RealSteel patches - is that picture of theirs? Kinda wanted to avoid CCOT, but would buy from them if necessary.

X2. Quarter panel patches would make that job 10000x easier.

Wasn't planning on taking the transmission apart, but when removing the transfer case, we let the transmission output shaft slide out enough that the synchro keys fell out. Went back together just fine! Three speed transmissions are not hard to take apart and

@GLTHFJ60 did a fantastic job on the clutch replacement and accidental transmission rebuild! (No replacing of parts, syncro keys slipped out when separating trans and transfer case) The 40 drives like a totally different vehicle, it's now a smoother and even more pleasurable tractor. :) Very very happy with the work, Johnny was amazing.

However, I am bummed to learn that the engine is not original to this 40. The 40 was made in Dec 1970, the block has a serial number dating from 1972.o_O I had a theory at least the trans and transfer were either not original or modified to get rid of the column shift/vacuum 4wd, story now seems to be it got a whole new drivetrain. Welp, there goes my dream of this one funding my retirement.:grinpimp::hillbilly:

We think something was amiss before, because the shifter would hit the heater box in both R and 2, and does not after proper reassembly. Either way, it was fun to look inside a three speed :D

Doesnt matter how many you have..... you always reach for one more. I still do it 8 years later

I go for the clutch and shifter in the 80 all the time. Been driving my PU since 02. I've never owned an automatic PU.

Would an LS3 and an NV4500 be too punchy ya think? :)
