I dig it! (How my 4yr old says it) turned out being valves not being adjusted, did that and that was that. Can't wait to get it on the road. I'm a little worried because the axle seals seem to be leaking. Other Than that, to be road worthy I need some plates, bleed the brakes, and get the cooling system back together. Soo happy with my brick!

Before I get cast by stones, I just want to note that my old man specifically told me not to seat all the valves and therefore not to adjust them when I put it back in...

As far as the rest of the "build" , I have been having some issues bleeding the rear brakes and believe it may be because the automatic star adjuster isn't completely spread out then backed off. The FSM and FAQ doesn't get into specifics on this so I have had to do it the hard way

I set that aside yesterday and began trying to time it, but before I did, I had to get the idle speed and air gap right. Can anyone tell me where the plug for the timing is, I'm not sure and don't want to short anything.

On a good note, my school owed me 400 big ones and that's got me some last minute expense deferrals. Hooray for my truck!!

Here's a splice of two pages from the FSM. The main page says which pins to short, the random pasted image shows where the pins are located at.

I'm going to get rid of the lspv and make it straight. Other than that, I found out that I don't need a cat so it's going to be straight pipe! NC emissions, gotta love em

Those little deals are emission related nonsense. I've got them on my 86. They just hang there. Notice that they have the same wear as the rest of the plastic, as in no evidence of a prior hose being attached. Great find though. The EFI 85 is the crown jewel of 4runners. The 86 is the bastard step-cousin.

Actually yes, what was supposed to be a easy fix turned out being worn out piston seals. Beginning with the lspv, I went on a hunt for a 3 way fitting for some time until I decided to get it from the treasure yard. I put it on and still couldn't get it right. So I replaced the master cylinder barely yesterday and that did the trick. I just want to note that the lspv was clogged and I had to do away with it because of the cost of a new one. My only problem now is that it can rev but when it gets into higher rims it bogs down and obviously that means less power. I think it has to do with the timing when I set it that the circuit that had to be completed may have been the wrong one. But the funny thing is that it didn't sound like that before I parked it... Help?

Sounds like you have been getting things done! That is strange though..? It sounds timing related to me but that does not make sence with the parking thing... Got any progress pics? ;)
