if i do slee's dual dot conversion, is there a u.s. drivers side and passenger side?

Put this dot on my 80 series Diesel thinking it would help, now my car wont start  Have I done any long term engine damage?? :crybaby: Is there a SST for removal of said dot?? :p

This is your own fault!! You should read ALL of the thread!! Diesels have the orange dot on the SUMP!! Fitting a second dot just ruins the engine!

daveyb furnished the forum with this information about 4 posts back.

Ok... I read all the comments here but for some reason non of the pics are showing in this thread, I tried to reload them but still nothing... I am really having a hard time understanding these comments without the pics. It just dosn't make much sense without at leat 1 picture... All I know is that there is a "dot " somewhere on the AF meter... I am at work but I will run out and look at my air flow meter ouside during my next break ( well, first, is it supposed to be visible under the hood ? )

Forgive my ignorence if it sounded like a dumb@$$

Oh, and I have a 97 anniv.

Im in same boat this thread makes no sence one part is talking about dot in airmeter and one is talking abouy dots on springs. Could someone please explain.

Maybe upgrading to a dot on your forehead might help?

Or try reading this, it might shed some light on the subject.

What's the biggest orange dot I can put on a stock '94?

The factory OEM dot is 3.14 MM in diameter. Changing to a different size will really confuse the ECM and it likely won't run without reprogramming. Be careful.

Need RTH! My truck has been running roough and so I took it into the stealership ( dumb@$$ I know) wouldn't you know it but they have come back with "your Dot is actively failing" to make matters worse, I live in canada and the Department of transport rules now state that we have to have an english AND french version of the DOT, looks like im scewwed!!!

Blew mine sky high from over reving. Boring out my A/F Sensor so I can run the new TRD 3.34mm diameter dot. I hear it's red with two black racing stripes. Haven't got it from Cdan yet. Should be in any day. Anyone got theirs yet?

Mine is 3.24 mm, I was afraid of losing too much low end if I went to the 3.34 mm. Please report on your experience when you get the 3.34 mm dot installed.

Don't make fun of that which you do not understand.

So I get it now, what a great way to gossip when having no real usful imput that was...

really ? I swear I thought I was in the "tech"section of mud, not chat...

weak...

It's all in good fun. Just accept that you missed the joke, laugh at yourself, and move on.

Tech content: Your '97 wouldn't have the dot to begin with. ;)

The door type air flow meter (AFM) has the dot, the hot wire type mass air flow meter (MAF) does not.

Ah, your one of the very few people left with a graphics card on your PC that does not have the orange dot conversion. I would search the windows/microsoft database for the upgrade.

Dave:

Thanks for the info... I would've been lost with you...

The rest:

Because of my graphics card limitations I wasn't able to view the pictures... So I guess I gave the subject a genuine ammont of attention even with how shaky it sounded from the first line... Now it's my time to post a link... hope it will help you all.

Chit-Chat Section

I think you will find all you want to know/hear there...:meh:

p.s. If you have that much time on your hand, wash your rig a post a pic standing next to it....This is Tech... Oil change modders . .

I think you're incorrect. These ECMs are designed to encompass a wide variety of dot diameters. 3.24mm, 3.34mm are fine! What kind of dot do you think they install on the roadside in Africa when they have one fail? If the 80s over there can run on makeshift dots that are practically SQUARE, I really don't think ours will have a problem going up a few tenths in diameter.

Hmmmm...sounds like your muffler bearing is too tight.

So you're saying my super special edition 40th Anniversary Edition that the dealer told me was the only one in Antique Sage Pearl to be sold in the US does NOT have this important piece of japanese technology? How can this be? I want to replace mine just as bad as anyone, just for preventative maintenance!! I'm writing a letter to Toyota about this if it is true...
