My first thought when seeing the bull bar also was: whoa, perfect for the coming zombie apocalypse !;)

Beautiful truck. Can I ask you, do you find it difficult to drive a RHD truck in Oregon city traffic? Ive seen a really cool RHD truck here in Dubai (from Japan) and I'm tempted, but hesitant about driving in Northern Virginia with a RHD truck. I've driven in Singapore and Malaysia with a RHD vehicle, so that aspect is not worrisome.

Not to hijack this thread but I've been driving RHD vehicles for 20+ years in the U.S. and with the exception of a couple of Land Rovers with full canvas canopies, RHD has never been an issue. In most 70 Series Land Cruisers you are surrounded by glass so visibility really isn't an issue (unlike the full canvas cover). I gave my son one of my RHD vehicles with he started driving and he drove it throughout high school. He loved the uniqueness.

To date still the most beautiful 70 ute to come through the shop. You gotta bring it by once the ARB side bars are on!
Thanks for that. I fit the bars up but decided they weren't for me so a local mudder took them off my hands. Turns out there are a handful of other utes in the area which is pretty cool.

For the most part it doesn't bother me at all. A lot of folks have asked what it's like shifting with your left hand, and for me it's really no different than going from a motorcycle to a truck or vice versa. Once you get the mechanics of it, it becomes an extension of your body like anything else. It also helps that the shift pattern / pedals are the same as a LHD.

I live in a somewhat rural area. The downside is passing on two lane country roads, but for a naturaly aspirated diesel making all of 129hp, that's really a non issue. I've taken it to Las Vegas, and hauled this load thru city traffic, over a 7500 ft mountain pass, and back home over a 12 hr drive. Sometimes you have to wait longer for bigger openings in traffic to makey your move, but thats more of a function of acceleration than which side the steering wheel is on. The turn signals vs wipers still get me though.

Its been a while since I posted an update. It's been a great summer and using the thing seemed like the thing to do. In any case, here's a few things that have been done to it.

Pulled the radiator and had it repaired where it was leaking at the mounting points, had it pressure and flow tested. Flushed & replaced the coolant. Dropped in two X2 Power batteries.

Changed the two fuel filters and did a Liquid Moly diesel purge.

Changed the oil & filter, transmission fluid & transfer case, front and rear diff fluid.

Changed the air filter and replaced the cracked lower snorkel section.

Put some FJ Cruiser steel wheels along with some 2019 Rubicon take off rubber. Turns out they are within a pound or two of the OEM wheel and tire combination. +4 Spidertrax spacers to clear the tie rod ends and rear leaves. Haven't settled on a lift, but it's looking like a pair of 2" +50Kg up front and a set of 2" +0 kg in the back should do it.

I see that you have the optional "climate control" seats. ( automatically warm up in the Summer and cool off in the Winter) :)
Give us a shout when you are ready for the recovery points.

Indeed. They aren't the most comfortable seats by any strech of the imagination, but they'll do. Found a set of Escape Gear covers through Equipt. Quality is top notch.

Alpine ILX-W650 mech less unit, 6.5" R series door speakers, 4" S series dash speakers. No CD capability, but the Carplay with Google maps, Pandora, hands free calling, texting is all I wanted.

Dash speakers just barely cleared the AC ducting. Odd Iron reverse lights pair nicely with the backup camera. Programmed Google Maps voice to Australian female accent for good measure.

That's why the RHD guys have the cleanest windshields of all the Cruiser groups. :)

Good lookin rig @Wyattlv . I think i've seen around RDM once or twice?
Hey thanks. I may have seen you once if you were pulling a trailer and fill up at the Chevron on 97.

Haven’t done much with it lately except drive and enjoy it. I did get a lift on it over the winter though. Specs & pics to follow.

Yeah, I’ve been building a budget trailer for my CVT tent. I was kicking myself for not buying that windshield you had in the classifieds, mine now has a big crack in it

There were 2 windshields in the classifieds earlier this month, and you may still be able to get a factory windshield from Toyota.
