options for LJ70 shock absorbers and motor belts

Hi all, I've got a 1986 LJ70 LandCruiser with the 2.4 turbo diesel. With some effort I've learned how to look up part #s on http://www.euro4x4parts.com and http://www.toyodiy.com, and have learned that by googling Toyota parts numbers i can sometimes find alternative (cheaper, and maybe better, in some cases) brands for stuff like filters.

But I'm having trouble figuring out how to find replacement shocks and motor belts.

Can anyone help?

Best option for shocks is to measure up the compressed & extended lengths, note down the end fittings (eye top, pin bottom both ends on my LJ71) Then try & find a match in a shock catalog or website. Make sure they are specced for a coil sprung vehicle.

I used the Old Man Emu (OME) catalog to find the compressed and extended lenghts of my shocks with the OME lift springs I bought and got the local 4wd part store guys to get me Pro Comp shocks with those measurements. Worked out awesome for me, even did my steering stabilizer. As for belts, I got part numbers off http://www.toyodiy.com, and researched them until I found the "Gates" HD version of the belts I needed, and bought them off Rockauto.com for my 2.4 turbo diesel (2L-TE).

I gotta leave for work REAL quick here... but this is what I used.

Power steering belt - 9345 Gates
Alternator/vacuum pump - (2x) 9415 Gates
A/C - 9476 Gates



as for shocks.. I bought ProComp and added a 1/2 spacer with a custom bushing I made on my lathe to all 4 shocks to get the same measurements as the OME catalog. Both these shocks are Eyelet top and stud bottom, and remember I don't have the same truck as you.... I have a 1990 Prado LJ78.
