OPOR Sliders, if you were ever on the fence about sliders it's time to get off!

I wouldn't use clear. It'll make touch up a PITA when it starts chipping.

These are looking real nice your rigs. Can some post a close up pic of how the fit under the front flares? I really like how these fit by the rear flares.
Thanks in advance
Stu

Few words of wisdom, just paint them on the ground. Goes a lot faster
The passenger side takes a little longer
Mine were filthy and brake clean helped a bit better than mineral spirits/paint thinner
I ended up with 3 cans primer and 3 cans paint on mine - accidentally dropped my 4th can

Came out pretty nicely and it's easy to touch up when I slide over a rock

Last picture was under the truck taking off the factory boards. The two bolts in front of the rest wheel were the biggest pain in the ass. Had to make a Lowe's trip 2 x this morning, once to but a swivel ratcheting wrench and the other to replace it when I broke it haha. Didn't break any bolts but it was slow going down there and a lot of PB

Can't believe they are still running this deal!

If you get a base model even with shipping is is hardly 250 bucks over light weight rock rails 1/10th the steel!

CRAZY!

The OPOR's aren't on sale, the $900 Metal Tech ones are on sale.

Well, after 8 weeks & 1 day I FINALLY have my OPOR sliders in my hand. It took MetalTech a lot longer than they said it would & RoadRunner Freight that they use are worthless POS's. Anyways, can I wipe them down real well w/mineral spirits, then self-etching primer, then spray paint or must I do more prep than the mineral spirits?

Mount before you prep them!

Then, I used mineral spirits and brake cleaner. I'd go brake cleaner before hitting it with mineral spirits or you'll be there forever.

Mount them to the truck before I prep them????? I'm sorry but I'm not going that route!!!

Well, I suppose now is as good as time as any to post my experiences with these sliders and why mounting them may be a good idea.

I got the sliders as advertised, plus maybe a week of wait time. These things are heavy duty as evident by the weight and the massive amount of cat protection. I couldn't wait to put these things on the truck.

As you all saw from the pictures, I went through hours of effort to clean them properly, prep, prime, and paint. This was Friday. Fast forward to Sunday, my buddy wants to put the, on... Who am I to say no?

So, I put these things in the back of my truck and drive them to my buddy's garage and then pick up the 80 and drive it down. We pop all the brake lines out on the drivers side and start the process of getting the u-bolts in - or whatever the first step is. They go I'm just fine after a little pursuasion.

Now we're starting to mount the slider to the u bolts with the rear first. It mounts up fairly decently but the tolerance is off all the way down the side. we bent the pinch see, back as far as comfortable and reassessed the situation. The slider was going to sit on the rocker.

Of course, we only has so many options at this point. I made the decision that day to take everything off, drive them back in the truck (keep in mind, this isn't the 80 I'm in to pick them up), and call metaltech in the morning.

This is where repeat business is made in my opinion. I spoke with Wade around lunch (he was probably just walking in the door on a Monday morning given the time difference) and I presented the issue to him. I know these things aren't light. It's not like shipping a cd back to amazon. It's not a piece of cake to organize a return label. I didn't know what to expect.

He took the call nice and calm ans said he'd look into it. I gave him contact information and I heard back from him a few hours later. They looked at their LX450 in the lot and said the sliders are a tight fit. He spoke with their technician and saw what the issue was. At this point, I knew I was dealing with someone that is honest. He could have clearly placed the blame elsewhere or refused to present options.

I had a few options at this point, and without getting into them, I chose to ship mine back and get a set of the metaltechs. We coordinated return shipping on the OPOR sliders and got those out last week. I will be seeing my new ones shortly...shooting for the following week and I can't wait to get those puppies on.

The big thing for me about choosing that route was that I didn't have to spend hours finishing the sliders again, the product should be more respectful to tolerances, and the difference in price was small at this point.

I'm happy with the way they handled this transaction and will be doing future business as needed.

Hope my experience helps!

But, moral of the story... Do a test fit!

And lastly, they made their return trip

Damn. NOT what I wanted to hear. I'm already so pissed w/my whole MetalTech experience & if they don't fit 100% properly I'm going to lose my cool!

Ok I was almost in the same boat. I thought mine didn't fit........but the tolerance of such a large piece of metal is impressively tight. After taken it of and on then wiggle and more wiggles they finally are mounted with all the bolts lined up. Passenger side was harder because of heavier weight and tighter tolerance. My suggestion is to loosely bolt the rear u bolt first and the. Try to get the front in. Don't forget to tap he 4 frame holes to clean them up.....ask me how I know. Doh!

It was not easy but it does fit!

Well, I gotta say, it was a different experience but they stood up to the plate on it. I wonder of they picked up on the error before they shipped yours, causing the delay?

Either way, they corrected the issue after I brought it to their attention

s***. I just noticed my DS has front and rear dimple plates and my PS only has front. It never ends!!!!!
