OK, I am doing a "Function over Fashion" kind of build but I am still trying to keep the truck looking cool.

I am going to use spray on bed liner for the lower part of the truck. This will cover up some rust and make a good scuff resistant base. My question is do I follow the body lines in the front or break off and form my own.

Someday I will do the body work on this but its engine, driveline, etc first.

Here are 2 mock ups... excuse the crappy photoshop job.

Option 1 - Conform.

Option 2 - Express myself

Thanks, Eric

@fj80toyman 's job looks pretty good to me.

Monstaliner'd the '62 this weekend

Heck, if the rough stuff is going on, might as well tape it off fancy....

Here is what the PO did to mine. TBH was one of my biggest hesitations when I first looked at it but the look has grown on me since last year.

Broke it in an interesting way on the hood (kind of went up that slope on the leading edge and stopped). Good for chips, etc but I still do a double take sometimes.

I like the high/low from front to back. Don't care for the look on the hood, though it does make sense for chips.

I have the same dilemma. If your grill and headlight surrounds are black , than I would go with option #2 so that there won't be so much black up front. My 60 has all the chrome blacked out. If you are going to keep the chrome, than #1 for sure, using the body line across the hood. Just my 2cents.

I would go buy a harbor freight welder, a 4" grinder with cut off wheels and grinding discs, some sheet metal, bondo and primer in a aerosol, some sandpaper. Go to a paint shop and have them put your factory paint Ina aerosol can. You should be able to cut out the bad sections and put in patches and have it done in 2 weekends. Make sure to treat the back side of the patches too.
