The way I believe it works is that there are site-wide mods that can mod every section, such as Mace, Woody, Poser, etc. Below them are forum-specific mods, such as myself, brian and greg, that only moderate one section. Thus, the list above is a list of all site-wide mods in addition to the ONSC specific forum mods.

Had some fun speeding up and making this video silly:

I wanted "Yackity Sax" which is the theme to Benny Hill - but it was not copyright free so I settled for what they had...

Experience and findings requested .....

The "Rice Clan" will soon be in the market for a new washer/dryer. The industry has gone full-bore in the direction of front load .... at least if you want to have any options.

The issue with front load that always floats to the top (sorry) is mold buildup due to a number of factors. There are several online recommendations on how to deal with the issue .... use only HE detergent, leaving the door open between loads, washer fans, blah, blah, etc.

Question .... If you have a front load washer did you run into the mold issue and have you successfully conquered the problem?

EDIT .... also would like to know if you've run into any reliability/repairs .... "Stay away from that LG 8500VHB! Sucker was halfway into her spin cycle and about to hit second when she threw a rod!"

Not really any good solutions other than those that you mentioned.
Primarily, we leave the door open a bit and that solves most problems, but also NEVER let a washed load sit in there overnight.
Ours has a 'basket clean" option, so if we do do something silly like close the door and leave the house for a week, we can recover easily. It basically just runs some super hot water with bleach through everything.

We've had our front loading washer and dryer for several years now, they work well and haven't given us any issues. Overall, they are pretty good machines. We have a Samsung brand washer and dryer. We haven't had any trouble with them yet.

We haven't run into mold issues. When we unload the washer, we leave the front door open since the large silicone front seal traps small amounts of water. I just use a kitchen towel to prop it open. We use HE detergent too, but I don't see how it could make difference with mold formation. There are also washer cleaners that you can purchase to keep the washer mold free, but they are kinda hard to find and a bit gimmicky. My suggestion is just let them air out.

The one thing I found I didn't like about front loading washers was the inability to add anything extra to the load once it started filling with water. I have a tendency to throw "one last thing" into the washer. I got used to being able to do that with a top loader, but it abruptly ended once we bought a front loader. The front door on most front loading machines locks upon filling with water, for good reason. It was a small price to pay in the end.

Hope that helps.

Yep. Encountered it, and the 'leave it open' method works just fine. That, and running a load of whites with a cup of bleach takes care of it.

Congrats on the upgrade. It's not like you're used to - jam as much clothes in there as you can possibly fit (versus loading lightly or spreading it out)... and don't bother with the HE detergent, just use a third of the regular dose, or half if you REALLY stuff it full.

We bought a set of LG top loading washer and front loading dryer a year or two ago. Had bad vibes about front loading washers, so we went top load. We've had great luck with them so far. Paid about 1300 for the set at Best Buy with discounts and promotions, and got 150.00 in gift cards because we were trading in a set of kenmores.

Really do not like my LG !

Kidding aside since I have been doing my own laundry since 5th grade when the nuns kicked me out of catholic school (antichrist behavior) and I landed in military school, and can iron-starch a shirt to stand on its own.... We have GE front loader 8 years now, leaving front door cracked open and never had issues with mold. Advantages of using less water and higher spin cycle reduces the heating requirement of the dryer. LG is not great, I second that. FisherPaykel top loader only lasted 7 years prior to that.

Front loaders do benefit from a platform, you may want to elevate since the door is much lower than top loader.

I will second the platform comment. I didn't really think of it since mine has always been elevated, but it would suck without it.
I also have a GE. In the kitchen, I can only say, I am glad we make jet engines better than we make appliances, BUT the washer and drier have been great for the last 4 years...

It is time to sale my 70 series. 2015 low miles

This is actually sad news coming from vzla. The people is starting to burn stuff on the streets against the government. Hopefully this ends soon without many casualties. No food, no power, no money. Things will get ugly(i hope not but i think is going to be the only way things changes)

I am soooooo sick of this election cycle. I just watched news report of last night's GOP debate and I thought I was in a High School gym watching the contestants for jack ass of the year award. These are "men" running for the highest office in the land and the unofficial title of "Leader of the free world" It has gotten to the point that even the lowest of IQ realizes that the whole thing is no better than a side show at the circus.

No substantive conversation on real issues, no common courtesy to their fellow candidates. We should demand better from those aiming to be our President. Imagine the joke that we are around the world. Imagine people in countries with less than democracy seeing how things work in the "Greatest Nation" on the planet. We should be ashamed.

If things keep going as is the Nov ballot will read as follows

1. Donald Trump
2. Hillary Clinton
3. Bullet to the brain

I vote

BANG

I didn't watch the debate because they are just ridiculous. Very sad with the state of affairs in politics right now

There was actually a d**k joke.
In a Pesedential debate. A freakin' d**k joke!:bang:
