Prius now available in AWD....... I'm going to have to admit it has my interest. If it came with a stick it would really have my interest.

That’s too funny. For years we’ve all wanted for Toyota to bring back something on the 40 series platform to which would definitely eat into the Wrangler market. Now Jeep is bringing something back that will definitely eat into Toyota’s bread and butter, the Tacoma’s market share. But hey I’m sure the new Highlander will be super cool:rolleyes:

Wow....that whole back-end including the tail lights and the badging just looks so awkward and out of place to me. The bed itself looks like its 80 feet long lol

Oh no doubt it’s fugly! I’d be shocked if they didn’t sell like crazy though.

I guess they wanted to keep the Wrangler styling with those terrible rear doors, but didn't have to do that with this extended wheelbase. Aesthetics are objective, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder... but I doubt if Owen Wilson could design the looks of his kid, he'd keep the Wilson schnoz for posterity's sake.

It will sell out. They can still bolt on all the same crap they peddle for them now, should be able to share the lifts, Bumpers, etc with the JL platform, AND it has a bed. They will be the next angry eye monsters you see everywhere.

It really is amazing how Jeep has nailed their market and how their market is rewarding them by keeping the kool-aid pitchers empty, but Toyota seems to not want to "muddy" their market up by bringing the 7x series over here. But honestly, how many folks (Toyota or not) are going to be willing to put north of $40k down for a bare bones rig when that same money will buy you a loaded JL Rubicon.

Like or dislike it, every sheetcan has a lid. Jeeps outnumber anything off road in the US, so they sell. The quality of the build and materials will be what makes it or breaks it. If it makes it, Toyota may decide to put money into the "idiot standards" needed to sell cars in the US for our crybaby-take-no-responsibility-for-my-actions market requirements. So could be a win, maybe take over the GM plants that are getting screwed by the tariff margin squeeze.
If it doesn't make it, because of poor welds, terrible electronics, components that barely last a year, and other low quality problems brought to you by the accountants at Jeep, they will blame it on the US market not ready for such a vehicle. And we all loose.

They are like Apple, Harley Davidson, and other "lifestyle" brands. the cult following will do exactly what you said, and the factory and aftermarket will laugh all the way to the bank.

I read the wheelbase is 137.3 inches. That is insane. This is a platform for the poser crowd (sorry, trying to be as nice as possible). I envision the 3 to 5 inch lift and 37s / 40s installed and then it will look 10000% better. Reminds me on the Defender 130 on portals. It will take 2 football fields to turn around and forget about parking at the mall. The aftermarket is going to have a field day. Maybe good out in the desert.

New Tundra wheelbase is 145.7.
