In the camping Gear thread there is some discussion about Big Ass tents, but I'll toss some in here as well.

I have the REI Kingdom 8. This is a great tent, with big flat walls. I'm 6'4" and can stand and move around comfortably. It has a huge vestibule at one end and has, what they call, the Connectech Garage as an option at the other, This is a massive, vestibule-cum-mud room with stake out awnings. There is lots of ventilation and 2 rooms inside. This is an awesome tent. Two downsides - (1) awkward for single person set-up (2) in a stiff wind, the big flat walls that make the interior so spacious act like sails if they aren't properly guyed out.

@Izzyandsue has the Big Agnes Flying Diamond 8. this was actually my first choice, but due to a seemingly endless back order at the time I was buying, I went in a different direction. This tent has (what I think are) 2 main advantages (1) simple 1 man set-up (2) awesome weather resistance. The trade of comes from it being a dome versus barn style. The absolute head room number is roughly the same, but only in the center. I believe it also lacks the veranda (garage) option.

Either one is a palace.

If you typically have a second set of hands and only ever go out when its nice, Kingdom 8. If you often solo, or refuse to be scared off by a little wind/rain/hail/snow/tsunami/etc. Big Agnes.

I prefer the Big Agnes, but that is largely due to the fact that I'm willing to camp out in shi**y weather, and my boys "help" setting up is still not really helpful.

Date night ... taking the 40.

We have the Kingdom6 for a family of 4 and two dogs. We've have been in some hellacious weather and never gotten wet. Yes, setup isn't always easy when A) you are drunk and 2) the dogs keep stepping on the tent, but I don't think we would find anything better for the money. We have the garage option as well and it was terrific when it started to pour in Dupont. We used it as a mud/storage room.

Been on the forum for 12 years in April and just hit 20k posts this morning!! Sometimes I think I spend too much time on here

Found this guy who claimed he knew some of you guys. So I gave him some beer and directions back to the Carolinas

@CharlestonG8R it was great seeing you again and catching up for a bit. Good beers and good time playing some games.

Thanks for hanging with us for so late when you guys were exhausted.

Al, the pleasure was truly ours! We really enjoyed seeing y'all. Good beer, good games. Love your place! I'm going to practice indoor shuffleboard and bring the thunder next time.

Hope to see you and Andrea back in the southeast very soon! Hit up Charleston if you can, we have lots to see and more breweries than people realize.

We will for sure let you know ahead of time next time we are in the Carolinas. Wish we could have hung longer but you guys were tired and we were fading fast also..... too many late work nights this week. Next time you guys are in town for work we will get a special beer to try.

8 mile round trip at 2pm last Thursday. Right around the house. Spotted 4 Tesla SUV's and 5 G-Wagons. WTH? That's a new record for me, but I swear I see 2-3 G-Wagons every time I go anywhere anymore.
Going out in a limb here, I know, but I bet not one of them has been muddy.

Wait, you have a vestibule and garage on your tent? I need to expand mine now.... searching...searching....

Wow, great job, and with a double box as well. Bet his seat has a nice crease in it now :)

This might look pretty cool. Cut out a hole in the bed for a gooseneck hitch and I'd be golden.

I keep hoping to get a pic of a 550 I occasionally see in Oak Ridge. Homemade 5th wheel rear with tool boxes and looks awesome.

I like the military look though. Dimensions okay?

Would love to see it!

Front of trailer to center of wheel arch is damn close to a match between the trailer and Ford. Wheel arches would have to be widened by about 5" per side but that's somewhat expected for a dually. 8' long bed instead of the 9' long wood bed I have, but that can be fixed.

Thought is that a steel flatbed for the Ford is more than what I'd sell the trailer for, so why not turn the trailer into my new bed?
