Hello all.
It's time for new shocks. I have OME 850 Js up front and the 864 springs in the rear. Not much is known about Dobinson shocks nor can I find model#s for my set up. I've heard good things about them and now a few suppliers are beginning to carry them here in the states. Anyone have first hand experience?

I second the question. I am ready for new shocks for a 2 inch lift and I am also curious about the dobinson shocks.

I have run both and currently running Dobinson (2" medium progressive kit), IMO the the Dobinson shocks ride better than the OME. I think the OME's are better suited for fixed loads. My $.02

Call or email them. I was in the market for shocks as well, they emailed me back within 5 minutes. I decided to try their remote resevoirs and they were going to air freight them from Australia for no additional charge. But they are way back ordered so I unfortunately didn't get them. Communication with them was top notch.

In case he hasn't seen this thread @David Otero is the guy I talk to about Dobinsons gear. He may not get back to you on the weekend (understandable) but during the week he is very prompt and will answer your questions. Having ran several iterations of OME shocks, I wouldn't go back with them. I have yet to try a Dobinsons shock, but I do have a set of their springs and I would definitely purchase them again.

You also need to determine first how you like your truck to behave on the road.
Do you like a firm ride or a more absorbent ride (comfort)? Lots of people, for example, like Fox shocks due to their comfortable ride (read soft).

So, ask about their characteristics too, soft vs hard ride.

I'm running 12 inch iron man foam cell pro, they are for 6 inch lift. They are the size of a 2.5 shock and ride great. Had old man emu Ls. Irons ride way better absorb alot better and don't seem to get the crazy body roll, I ran 60 mph down a wash board road no problem. Good shock to look at.

Here's pic of them

I have had OME and I went to Dobinsons MRR's and I am very happy with them. Love my Dobinson suspension.

I have been running the Dobinsons GS45-912 andGS59-687, their shock for a 4in lift, for about 5k miles and I am very impressed. They are larger and seem to ride better than any of the OME I have had in the past. I would say that if I was to nitpick, then they're a little stiff\non-compliant on washboards but beyond that, they are just great whether I am loaded, unloaded, or towing.
