Hey Paul, so I included your dumb grommet in a list of 1998 Prado parts from a great parts guy here figuring it would be no issue for him. Surprisingly it came back NA=Not Available. But no worries. I will find a used one in Sharjah for you and drop it in the mail next time I am in the US which should be next month. I see the damn things all the time. The salvage guys might not even charge me for it. Ping me if you no longer need it.

John you rock. Was able to find the part through cruiserbros, appreciate the offer!

Will be time to cut into a perfectly good firewall once parts arrive.

Apologies in advance for hijacking your thread a little, Paul.

There are two styles for the heater lines through the firewall. Close together and far apart. I used the close together version, partly because that was the heater core I found. The other thing I would suggest is to consider having the radiator shop braise on another inch and a half of length so that you have a bit more sticking out of the firewall. It is looking very good Paul!

I'm daily driving my troopy right now because everything else is broken or being worked on. Daily driving a troopy is ... something. Or as I put it to some local friends today, it rides like a lumber truck and steers like a barge. I've been advised to get the terrain tamer parabolic springs for the beast, and I am considering it. The pickup actually rides better but right now I have the aircon boxes out of it to work on and it is getting hot...

Last night driving on the Palm.

This morning the troopy took me to the doctor.

If you get the terrain tamer parabolics please detail it in your build thread! Your troopy is looking great.

Got my radiator in today. Definitely looks to be slapped together. Will look to see what a local radiator shop can do with my old one.

PWR wouldn't build me one with the sides. They kept saying my sides on my old one would mount to their core. I sent them your pictures but nothing would make them budge. I don't understand it.
You have a Hz right? They should have the specs for a HZ rad. I believe someone on here got one from PWR recently for their HZ. Maybe first contact PWR in Australia and then they’ll tell you to contact the US office. When I did mine they sent me some 2H rad drawings that I could then modify for what I wanted done. Just weird.

but first, a small diagnosis, its been winter, have you been doing mostly short trips with it? it could simply be condensation buildup from not running/driving at operting temps for long enough times.

1FZ-F carb. I talked to their US subsidiary, they said they wouldn't make any modifications. Unsure why as I was willing to pay the price.

I have been doing short trips, under 20 minutes because the thermostat isn't reading on the dash and didn't trust the radiator.

Hoping this is the cause, but need to get a new radiator and reinstall the dash before taking her back on the road.

I think it's safe bet to assume that's the cause, mine will get like that during the winter once in a while, I just take it for a longer drive and it clears right up.

Given the state of my wiring loom I'm trying to replace the entire thing with a fresh one. All the 1FZ harnesses available in the states are for auto trans, which I don't believe will work for my carb'd manual 1FZ-F.

Believe in looking at the right part here: 821316A343

Believe I have figured out why my engine temp gauge wasn't working.

They removed the thermostat completely last time this was changed. Water inside has mineral deposits, need to do a very very thorough flush of this cooling system once my radiator comes in.
