I found this artical when looking for some factory stuff...the 1st japanese prisoner of WWII was a clerk for the Toyoda Truck Company :) ...a midget sub survivor on the attach on pearl harbor

Article is from 1948 newspaper....almost 62 years ago to the day :)

probably saw the 1st BJ Jeep roll off the line in 1951

Also quite interesting Sakamaki had become the president of Toyotas Brazilian subsidiary Toyota do Brasil

I’m impressed with how Toyoda took him in… at a time when he was shunned and mocked for not dying honorably and bringing shame on Japan for being the first POW

He rose to such a high position of respect within Toyota


From reading into this gentleman it seems he went to Toyota do Brasil in 67’ … this is interesting because the owner of this wagon:


Was Ichiro Nishitami … and he went on to become the vice president of Toyota do Brasil but stepped down when going bankrupt in 67’

So it seems there was a shake up at TdB in 67’ to bring in Sakamaki
