my truck is a 11/'74 and it doesn't have a hood latch realease.. and like JohnnyC said the first time u leave the hooks detached and drive away you'll wish u had one.. cuz i had my hood fly up in my face at 60mph on the highway after a weekend of camping.. it wasn't fun and i'm restoring a hood because of it..

thats funny...mine is also a 11/74 and it had it

Esthetically, it should go down, that's the way pictures are matted. but as mentioned, the TOYOTA badge on the grill is centered with the thick part up.

+1 on the picture matting. But what is this toyota badge you speak of?:D For some reason mine has always had a bow tie there :p

If there had never been a stamped bezel, I could see there being some confusion as to its orientation. But with the stamped history, how is there even an argument? Makes no sense, unless people just like goofing around with it.

found a pic and you can see the "Safty Latch" ...pic borrowed from webelk6 here on mud...this is what they looked like from late 73-end of 78.

as you can see ojaij40 is correct...there are many differences between cruisers...some not as obvious as others
Looks like the front is thicker on the top even without a bezel on it!

Wouldn't mind having that poster.

Well, when you install them the wrong way as I did... You'll get stuck but since I was corrected (1st post as a Newbie) and installed my Bezel the right way, I never get stuck!!! Works better then lockers.:D

I'd really like to get a stamped bezel for my 40.......just another indication to the Jeepers that ITS NOT A JEEP. Its funny to see Jeepers start to wave on the road, then when they finally get close enough to realize that its not a Jeep, they shamefully put their hand down

Although, I gotta' say.....I'd almost rather my rig be called a jeep, than ce confused with a land ROVER

i never even noticed that there was a fat side and a skinny side. as soon as i looked at this post i went into the gararge and checked, and sure enough it was upside down. I flipped it and now it looks right i just never noticed until you guys pointed it out.

after reading this I believe i will go turn my bezel upside down. that way some one has something to talk about.

fat n skinny

Bezels are like women, some of us notice the skinny ones some notice the fat ones......
