100% sure.

Been discussed a lot on the 3FE list, and after posting up this morning, I even verified it again on my way to work.

so no separate 2nd start button in those, then...? these are great to confuse newbs, though, a pity.... :D

Are you sure about the second gear on the A440F working that way? I've never heard of a transmission where that is the case however I've never driven a A440F. On every transmission I've ever used 2nd means start in 1st and will shift into 2nd but no higher.

CJF is correct. The selection of the "2" position on the A440F functions as the "second gear start" button functions on the A343F.

Back on topic, because MikePL is buying a United States-model Lexus, which I understand was sold only with the A343F transmission, he should have the transmission which functions as described by Grench's above post.

Did the OM from Raven make it to you in time for your trip this morning?

Huh, I'll be damned.

Seriously though. Everyone in the States should be required to take the driving test in a manual transmission.

Any idiot can drive a vehicle with an AT.:flipoff2:

Tank,
in the 91-92 if you are in 2nd you are in 2nd, no shifting out, I use this feature on long hill climbs rather than jump back and forthe between second and third.
good luck on the lex mike.

I've just received a response from Lexus. They will not send me a copy of the manual because I am not from the US. So if someone could send me an electronic version of the manual, that would be great. My mail is michal at jedrak.com

well, the one I've seen consisted of hundreds of pdf files, so not that simple unless somebody has already concatenated them...

Relax Eric, he is talking about the Owner's Manual. It's a single PDF file as I recall.
