Interesting exhaust work there.

Appears the "professional mechanic" didn't have what it takes to make a TBI motor go so bolted a carb on top.

Ummmmm

Motor is a Chevy 350 V8 with an Edelbrock carburetor.

But was converted. Pretty easy to do with an adapter. Fairly common for those wanting easy power and not wanting to mess with a TBI system. They can make good power if you know what to do with them but you need to build it once and burn a chip or you will have to burn a new chip for just about every mod sans cold air intake and exhaust work.
The TBI system sadly doesn't have much of a learning curve like the 2nd and 3rd Gen motor ECUs do.

You're saying I should prefer the "modified" version over how that motor was born?

I read it as the mechanic swapped the motor into it, not that he swapped out the TBI on the motor.

Interesting go-fast mods notwithstanding, Abingdon VA is a mountain town. Suspect mucho rust. Take a look at the rad support and the horns in the pics. They are crusty. Buyer beware.

You have a sharp eye Dave

Not saying it's a rust bucket but anything coming from a town like Abingdon should be scrutinized carefully.

When it comes to a 60/62 I generally look at the body and interior, in most cases the rest is being gone over front to back. Finding a clean body is getting harder all the time.

Ahh. Yep, he swapped the motor alright. But according to the pictures the motor that's in there was originally a TBI motor.

Maybe someone can negotiate a tire group buy? I need a set of 35/12.5/15 KM2s and a set of 235/40/18 Conti DWS..... The Conti's now - the 35's can wait a bit.

I have four 265/65/17's sitting in my garage collecting dust. $60 for all four.

1989 FJ 62 Toyota Landcruiser ran across this thread this morning if anyone is contacts him I am happy to go look at it apparently its here in Black Mountain I don't think Ive seen it before but there are some that are up here that are never driven.

It's no longer available......as it will be mine! Bittersweet as I had my eye on @tgadd 's Mabel but couldn't pass this up for the price and it gives me something to spend $ on as Mabel was probably perfect as is! Picking up either late next week or after first of year. Too much going on right now. Red 62 sale more of a reality!
