Thanks. Mine is kind of rusted, etc so I might consider this. Are those super difficult to swap out? Never done it.

Nope, it's very straightforward. It's about 5 or 6 bolts, driveshaft, and brake line. Roll it it under with the wheels on and bolt it back up. Bleed the rear brakes, and you're basically set. (I'm oversimplifying of course, but it's a Saturday afternoon at worst). There's a couple of threads on the forum about how to do it.

That 10 minutes is a win - usually if I start a conversation about a car/truck it's a look and a no :). I got to 10 minutes in because I tried to bundle it with a dog.......

Stay at it...sometimes ya get lucky, other times ya get the truck lol

I already have GM mid-size disc brakes on all four corners and the mechanic I am working with said the swap should be easy, just remove the old calipers, install the new ones, bleed the brakes and run the cables. Should hold as well since it will be at both rear wheels. The kit only fits the split case but I believe the only difference between the FJ60 and FJ40 models is the bolt pattern on the rotor. May be wrong but that is what it looks like to me.
swap will be very easy and pretty cheap but wont hold near as well as a TC brake.

Don't toss your old axle. I might be interested.

Probably won't swap anything out for now. I have a list that has about 50 things before an axle....and when/if I swap it out I will probably hold out for lockers....maybe. But I will let you know.

I wish I was in the market. Some clear coat failure but seems like a very solid daily driver 100, 1999 with 260k for $5k... Pretty good platform and price point to have some fun!

After seeing what Pete did at Logan's in his stock 100, my mind has been wandering closer and closure to the current decade, or century at least...

Someone go buy this pls so I can stop thinking about it

TSM Parking Brake Kit 4066MB3 FJ60

Was going to use this but the mechanic I am working with suggested replacing the rear calipers with GM type calipers with parking brakes and that is what we will be doing next week. Complete kit meant for a FJ60, never used but the bracket was mounted to the TC before the suggestion was made. Cost $321 w/shipping asking $225 plus shipping, firm.

I would reconsider. I've read nothing other than horrible reviews of the performance of the GM caliper type parking brake. They lose adjustment quickly and then stop working altogether. The kit you have works very well and was designed based on customer input from people in this forum (no, not kidding!!). If I were you, I'd instruct your mechanic to use the transfer case brake you have and ditch the GM caliper e-brake idea.

I might be looking for a 1993 80 series distributor - I have # 6 cyl misfire and a mechanic friend says it seems like a distributor issue (over my head now) I have not called the dealer yet.... Cruiserparts.net has them for $125 - says it would fit '93-'97

PS if anyone has one to loan, just to see if it fixes it, that would be nice too...
