Attn 100 Series Owners! My alternator was going out so I replaced it with a Reman Denso Unit. That one actually failed 32 days later, so I replaced it with a Mean Green 200A.

Point is, I have 2 Denso alternators that are on the verge of failing and would make adequate replacements if you can rebuild them. Denso doesn't make new ones anymore, so a rebuild is the best you'll get anyhow. Unless you spring for a Mean Green - which does the same thing as a stock unit... I don't know why I was expecting something magical to happen to my truck.

The price is: Free.

Lemme know, I will bring one to @southerncruiser62 tomorrow at the HAMOM since my attendance at LR is questionable.

Cross posting at UC.

I hope you can make it to LR.

Jeremy, there is a guy close to me that rebuilds alternators, old school and does a great job. Paid $80 for Heather's alt on her Volvo S80, looked new when I picked it up, the NEXT DAY!

I did this last year. and a Sweet mod, it was !!

Upgrading stock alternator to 130/150 amp

I read more then one thread on several forums that turned me away from the mean green alt's..
I was unable to find any complaints about the 100 Series Mean Green alternator... The PO of my 40 installed a Mean Green Starter and it works fine. What drew me to it in the first place is its the only brand new alternator, for the 2001 LC, that I could find. Bosch and Denso only remanufacture them now, and my Denso reman died just after the 30 day return policy expired... Also, it didn't require any modification to fit. I guess time will tell if it was a smart decision... Cool thread on the 80 alt, did you happen to get one of those brackets?

yes i did. it came with a new plug, I went over and got a 130amp alt from junkyard and it all went together rather nicely.

i don't remember all the particulars but it came down to the MG's being overrated and there wasn't enough cooling for the load which could lead to failures. i really didn't need 200 amps, but i needed more then the 80 the stock put out. so the proven reliable 130-150 amp toyota solution was a better fit for me.

Still in need of some 80 series or lx450 16 inch rims. Need 4 or 5. If anybody know of any available please let me know

Both are spoken for. @pawwright is getting one via the Greg Ashcroft to LR MudShip. The other goes to Marshall Shepherd.

Friend of mine from high school texted me that he heard about a deal on a ton of Cruiser parts with a couple of cruisers and other vehicles for 10k. Located in Cary. Apparently some sort of illness or death, details are fuzzy. I was give a contact for the guy who is helping the family sell the stuff as Warren at 580 two 4 seven 0nine7 five. These were the images that were sent to me and there was also mention of a crew cab dually included as well.
