judging by his price i don't thihnk he'd touch 2k... but you're right

plus mating up the engine to the rest of the 80s drivetrain requires the 100 series tcase and all that stuff too, i'm pretty sure...

it's a big job, probably a bigger job than a cummins swap, which reminds me, do you guys do cummins swaps?

Some of us do :D

BJ73 - Mine - For Sale SOLD - Pending Funds

1986 (9/86) BJ73LV-MRW

LHD, 3B, H55, FF rear axle with limited slip, 253xxx kms (~ 157,000 miles)

It pains me to do this, but I am putting my 1986 BJ73 up for sale. This truck was imported from Spain by the prior owner and I bought it in September of 2014. There is going to be another 70 series truck in my garage and I have to make room for it - both in the garage and in the wallet.

The truck is fully baselined with the following work / maintenance being done since September:

  • Engine oil and filter
  • New air filter and intake piping
  • Front and rear output seals on transfer case replaced
  • Front and rear axle rebuilds
  • New rear brake cylinders and brake fluid flushed
  • New OEM wheel studs
  • New Aisin front hubs
  • Transmission and transfer case lube changed
  • AC converted to 134 and blows cold now
Upgrades include
  • 24V to 12V converter wired in and 12V distribution system setup
  • Low amp 24 to 12 volt converter installed for radio memory
  • Offroad Outpost (MetalTech) Sliders installed
  • New tires and wheels
    • 5 Black AR23 wheels in 16x8
    • 4 GY DuraTrack tires in 265/76R16
    • 1 Private label tire (new) for spare - 265/75R16

Not installed but included
  • OME springs and shocks (used in good condition)
  • Terrain Tamer anti-inversion shackles and spring pins (all greaseable) - new
  • I have a complete list of spares and parts that will go along with the truck. It is not overly extensive, but a pretty good list of parts.
The truck rides about 1.25" higher than stock based upon measurements I have gotten from other MUD members' rigs. It has a modified ARB front winch bumper with a European 12K, 24V winch with synthetic line, LED dually lights, and an aftermarket rear bumper. It has a snorkel with a cyclonic (Donaldson style) pre-cleaner.

There is no rust in the body and only minimal (at most) surface rust on the chassis. The paint is generally good with the normal scratches and minor dings for a 29 year old vehicle. The truck has been used, but not abused. At some point in the past, the passenger side door has been repainted.

The truck has no leaks (now that I have typed it, it will leak like the Exxon Valdez) ...

It does have a few warts that I have not gotten to yet:
  • Rear wiper and rear defrost do not work. The wiring between the rear quarters and doors needs to be redone. The defrost grids test fine for continuity. The rear wiper motor is not installed, but is included in the sale.
  • The 80s era decals are fading a bit and there are scratches in the paint and a few small dings.
  • The exhaust is new and was apparently installed in Spaun before importation. The shop that did this torched the first frame mount off. I have a hanger in place supporting the exhaust, but it is not original.

I am sure there are other things I have left out, but most work is noted in my thread in my signature.

I am looking for $19K and am fairly firm on this. This is what I paid for the truck, so I am not trying to recoup any of my work / additions. When I post this in the MUD classifieds, the price will go up.

Truck comes with a binder of paperwork and receipts. I have quite a few pictures up. Please PM me and I'll shoot you a link. I am working on interior pictures.

I've not done one to date but I am not opposed to doing a diesel swap

Possibly. We'll see what happens.

Johnny, what is replacing it is worth it, I promise :grinpimp:

Ok, now you're making me jealous. What could possibly be more cool than a LHD BJ73? A LHD BJ74?

Dont forget about 75 pickups :D

Now you're talking pink unicorns .... that one's a few years from being legal to imported ....

And she's sold pending funds. Ran a quick compression test this morning - 400+ PSI across the board, cold no less ...

Combined with a leisurely driving pace ...
