I think I saw you mentioned that you have 275/65/20 KO2's earlier, and some have mentioned the need to add a spacer. Did you end up adding a spacer to fit these without any rubbing on the UCA? If so, what size spacer? I just bought my 08 (same color), and am looking at tires now....

Just removed the mudflaps up front and nothing else. The KO2s in this size run smaller than other tires in the same size, so I didn't have the clearance issues that others may have faced with a tire like the Falken AT3W. In reverse at absolute full lock going over a bump, it might occasionally kiss the plastic up front, but it's so slight there aren't even marks in the plastic where it hits. Even wheeling it doesn't hit anywhere, but I'd say this is the absolute biggest tire you can put on without some mods to the plastic or more.

Awesome! Exactly the answer I was looking for! Thanks!

Well I had to take this thing out the day I bought it. Nothing crazy, but it ended up being a pretty good afternoon!

Pretty cool that a 34" will fit without interference to the UCA.

As a side note, one may want to run a spacer with a 34" anyways. Spacer addresses clearance, but also corrects suspension geometry too when running a larger diameter tire. By adjusting the offset, optimal scrub radius is maintained, which will improve turning, tire pull/kick-back, and handling in general. Sometimes dramatically if offset is really off.

Stock 31.2" tire, offset is 60mm.
For a 32.8" tire, optimal offset is ~50mm.
34" tire, ~42mm.

A 3/4" spacer would be ideal if running a stock wheel with 34s.

Trying to decide if my 305 spare now hangs too low after the LRA tank install. And whether I'll replace the spare only with a non-matching 275/60/20 that's ~1.5" narrower.

I wouldn't extrapolate that conclusion to other makes/models of tires, or even non KO2 tires from BFG. KO2s are notorious for being smaller than advertised. The "34x10.5" KO2s on my Tacoma were 32.5" when properly inflated & under load. I wouldn't be surprised if the 275/65/20 size mentioned above was a good inch shorter in real life than an identical size from another brand.

Looks pretty darn low to me, (at least from that angle) but you'll know better than anyone else whether that's an issue for your use.

When you added you 1" spacer, did you have to trim the studs or did it fit directly? I was thinking about the 3/4", but saw someone mentioned they don't work with the stock wheels without trimming the studs.

I just put the 275/65/20 BFG's on. After taking the mud flaps off, seems to be no rubbing. I need to check more thoroughly tomorrow in the light and at more angles etc....

No need to cut the wheel studs for 1" spacer.

If you have the stock wheels that are in your avatar, they will work without any problems with 3/4 inch BORA spacers. Those wheels have little "pockets" on the back side where the lugs from the rotor, even though they will protrude past the spacer, will fit into without causing any issues. The stock wheels for '13-'15 LXs on the other hand, won't work as the little "pockets" on the back side of the wheel don't line up with where the lugs protrude.

I wouldn't read into specific measurement too much other than the manufacturers specification size. Every tire will distort under load including the stock tire.

We unfortunately can only approximate ideal offset with the available 3/4" and 1" spacers on the market.

If spec measurement puts the tire in the 33-34" diameter region, a 40mm offset will be much closer to optimal for scrub radius than the stock 60mm offset.

@supercarrera nailed it. No grinding or cutting on my 2009.

Totally transformed!

How do you like the grapplers?

I like my falkens but I’m seeing some chunking at 20k miles. I align and rotate with every oil change.

I like them a lot. They’re very quiet/smooth. I’ve had 4 different sets of terra grappler g2’s on various suv’s/trucks and I definitely like the look of the ridge grappler better. They might be quieter than the g2’s as well it’s just hard to tell.
