how many of y'all are on 315's without a re-gear? i'm due for new tires and trying to decide whether 315 should be the move!
No regear here but when I went out west I wish I was regeared. My Cruiser spends most of its time at 1500 feet or less. At 7000 feet, it a different story.

Same here. Not a big deal in Iowa at similar elevation. It was pretty awful in Colorado though. Keeping it in 2nd gear and the rpms above 2500 helped. Coming to a stop and going up a steep hill was agonizing lol

I'm on 315's with stock gears, and even in Colorado, it's not as terrible as I imagined it would be. Struggles less in the mountains than an FJ60 on 32's. With a supercharger or turbo, I think stock gears would actually be preferable to 4.88. Without FI, I think you can make due without the gears in flatter parts of the world. Also important to note, my 80 has no extra weight aside from the tires--actually lighter than stock since most of the time there are just front seats in it.

This NEEDS to be on the cover of some 4x4 magazine! I believe I would frame that and hang it above the fireplace! (Yea right..... whom I fooling.....:princess: would kick my :deadhorse:!)
