I have an OEM ps pump bracket part# 44443-60020. I am not sure what model this came off of (I think a post 73 fj40) but I was wondering if the stock 2f bracket will fit on an f engine or do I have to buy an aftermarket bracket? I am piecing together a power steering setup for my 71 and so far I have a stock bracket and pump, minitruck box and frame mount.

Thanks

Andy

FJ40s did not come with PS until '79. Your engine block will need to be tapped to mount this bracket unless you have a '79 or newer 2F block.

I think the PS bracket you have will fit the 2F
I have PS pump and bracket which is the same as the one on my 1980 2f FJ, it fits the 1976 block, the holes are tapped. It fits on the right side of the block. The front lift bracket goes on before the PS bracket. I have 1976 fj as a project vehicle, it was a bit of a hack job but I checked the engine number with SOR list and it came up as 76 engine.
I got the PS pump and bracket as part of as swap for a gauge cluster when I put a different dash in the 1978 fj, ( think I got it in the early 80's, I never throw much out you never know.)I don't recall the year it came from, however it fits the 1976 block just fine. Still have to find a pulley for the water pump.
Hope this helps
Thanks jb

Kiwidog - It sounds to me like someone must have tapped your '76 block for the oem power steering bracket, b/c bsevans is right, the factory didn't produce a block until '79 with the tapped holes. I have a 4/76 block and it does NOT have the tapped holes, but I just added the oem power steering pump and mount to my 3/79 engine and the holes were present. I'd be interested in seeing pics of what you've got kiwidog.....you mention it is mounted on the right side of the block?

If you are in fact bolting a factory power steering pump to the right side of your engine, would it not be attaching to the cylinder head and not the engine block?

PS pictures

Hi CruiserStuff

Here are some pictures

The '80 fj has a snow plow attachment which uses PS hydraulic power to run the rams so it is not exactly stock. The brackets for that fits the '80 and the '76 look the same. I don't think the head has been tapped , I think it is OEM.
There are PS pumps which mount on the left side down lower?

1st picture '76 2nd and 3rd '80

Thanks jb

That is the bracket for non-US cruisers. US models have the pump on the drivers side above the smog air pump. The non-US bracket would work, but it would require relocating the alternator.
