Pic 1: Now, just for the hell of it I tried to see if the knob from the "old" switch would fit onto the "new" switch. :D So far so good!

Pic 2: What are the chances. :hillbilly:

Pic 3: Screw goes in a bit further but it's in there pretty tight! ;)

Stay with me as I have "only" two more posts about the stupid, knob-less switch.

Well, I'm a poor loser, so I haven't given up on getting the whole switch set-up with knob and stuff. :D

However, I will be happy to give a full refund to those of you who have paid for the complete switch. ;)

As always, thanks for looking!

Ok... so what switches are you selling?

At this moment, all I'm offering with the "pull" type switch, is the knob-less wonder that you saw at the top of the sequence above.

I'd take a wild guess and say that you wouldn't want the switch w/o the knob, eh?;)

If you can give me a few more days I'll let you know if my last struggle yields any fruit or not.

mot, how does the new switch mount to the dash? In the pic below you can see maybe how; see those threads inside that flange/bracket? I think maybe you need another part, some kind of fancy hollow bolt, to thread into there to attach it to the dash...

And you might have to grind off that little hook at the top of the bracket. It looks like mounting in an '84 might be different. The old switches just mount into a round hole, with those nuts on either side of the metal.

Sean,

Here is the diagram of the fog switch, etc....

Is it the "bolt" that's highlighted that's all that's required to mount the switch to the rig or is there something more?

My old EPC does show that the bolt was active/available when it was current. I had already written it down but did not ask the part guy about it since I was more concerned about the "knob".

Let me know if I'm WAY off and I'll do the same when I find out about the other stuff.

Let me know if you don't get a complete switch with the knob. I'd still be interested in switch only and I'll put another style knob on it. As always. Thank you mot

Yes that bolt should work. Switch, bolt and knob should be a complete kit. Maybe make sure the knob set screw isn't yet another separate part!

The Hazard and Wash/Wipe switchs both use a bolt thing that looks like it would fit that newer style switch. Even if they're not available (and assuming they're the same) it shouldn't be too hard to find one to use.

Hey thanks for the moral support!
I always (really) appreciate it!:frown::crybaby::hillbilly:

I'm getting a knob from another rig, a bolt for the headlight switch (for the 40) I've picked up, as well as the "bolt" for the 40's fog light switch on Wed. I'll try to post then with my findings.

The rest of the parts (only a couple) I've ordered were out of stock and it would take them 2-3 weeks to get them made. Those parts are: a complete switch from another rig (no separate PN for the knob found on the switch anyway) and a knob for a different vehicle.

I was just trying to guess from the EPC diagrams that they might have the similar-looking pull switch for their lights.

I'll keep you posted!

Thanks again for your encouragement.

I had received a similar bolt thingy for the headlight switch, but the other part that came with them at the same time was not what I thought it would be.

I'm still waiting for the rest of the parts to arrive having my fingers crossed...

Yeah, I'm still holding my breath, but many of the PN's I've tried for the knobs from different vehicles turned out "discontinued".

Let's see what happens when the rest of them come in.;)

Discouraged...

When you try so hard to find/source some of these parts and they always turning out something different than what you expected, it gets really old, REALLY fast!!!

I'm not sure if I can keep at it longer with this sort of crap...

Sorry guys!

Mot :frown:

I was able to get just a knob which is the top one and also the whole switch assy which is shown below.

You can see that the first/top one's knob is a little bigger than the second one, as well as the texture being a little different.

In comparing them with the one that came with the old fog assy, the second(smaller) one is identical to it. So I have a feeling that it is probably the same size/texture as those found in old Cruisers. But I could be wrong.
