Just to say i am still alive and not sleeping all the time, went to the woods for the weekend and then broke my hub housing on the 40, so now got to replace it and get ready to go again for about 4 days starting on thursday, then after this next weekend will start back up on 45.

Till next week....

Alright, we are back at it in between my neighbor coming down here and a few other things. No pics right now but have made progress. Got a new radiator dropped in, local shop actually had one in stock. Right now i am trying to get all of the motor stuff done on it so i can fire it up once i get the wiring run. Going to take the rear driveshaft down to the shop and get it shortened and put new joints in it.

Sorry but nothing new today. Had to go to the new store that opened here. A Tractor supply store. Then went to a Pig pickin.

While going thru my steering gear box I happened to come across this minor set back, ok major. Anyone that is following this have an old gear box ( 64ish ) that they do not need the following part, the rest is just fine.

By the way the above part is where the i guess it would be the pitman arm would hook up. The threads are all messed up and definately have no tap that big. Looks like someone almost tried to weld the nut on it is so bad.

Thanks

Thanks Dave, just PMed him. I am also going to see tomorrow if my machine shop can do anything with this old one.

The other thing is I was working on a buddy's fj40. he has some messed up threads on the output shaft of his transmission. I brought it to a local 4x4 guy who also works on cruisers. Amazingly enough he was able to bring back the threads. Fortunately it was only the first couple rows of threads that were messed up. Used a file and another tool to clean them up.

Good luck and let us know your outcome.

Dave

Thanks much guys.

Time for some overdue updates.

Going hard at it for the past week doing alot of small stuff on this thing. Still putting offf the wiring for a bit though. Speaking of that have a question for someone in the know. I have a alterator from a 87fj60 that has been rebuilt for me and i would like to hook it up. Can i do this pretty easy with this EZ wiring harness. It ad the built in regulator in it is why.

On to other things. Have almost finished building all of my steering components now, a few more tie rods ends to put on and will have steering again. Have gone thru the box and everything on this thing with new bearings in all. Many thanks to Dusty 66 for his help with parts.

Also got a fiberglass tranny cover from someone i do not like to deal with but it all worked out this time. Got the holes all cut out for the shifters and then put some of my liner stuff on it today. I am going to use a shifter boot out of a 60 because that is what i had laying around for some reason. Go figure, wife says i have too much stuff lying around for years, eventually i will find a use for it.

HHHHMMM did the fiber glass cover fit on the truck?
I tried using a later model on my 65 SWB and they are different.......from the 78 era....maybe the LWB is the same....

It is one of the early model ones from JT outfitters. But it actually fit .

Got a fair amount of time on her today. Got the steering pretty much done so now at least i can steer the dang thing. Got the tranny cover on today along with the heater, and heater hoses. Right now i should be good for water and oil going in. It is starting to come together slowly but shurly.

Got a favor to ask from anyone following this with an old 40 / 45. I need all of the carb linkage from the pedal all the way to the carb. I am going to try and put the one barrel carb on this thing. Thanks for any and all help in locating this stuff.

Does your block have the pivot threaded hole for the linkage?
I was going to do this on my 45 and I have a later 2F that does not have a provision for the linkage....
If your block is old school it should have it......
