Quite a few year back I was wheeling with some boys in the BJ42 and Jazzy, we arrived very late and very under the influence and I did not want to pull my passenger seat and go to bed. So I pulled out my sleeping bag and ground foam, it was freezing cold but Jazzy climbed into the sleeping bag and it was like I was instantly warm. The next morning the boys who slept in their cruisers complained about the crazy winds and storm, me and Jazzy slept through that storm under my bj42 without waking up once.

My heart goes out to you on the loss of Jazz - I am really not looking forward to the loss of my Newfy Nelly, she is so much a part of my life

Now I just need to finish the power steering… and give it a quick once over.

Now that's a face haha

Not looking forward to this guy on the right going either.

Stubborn old coot just had his 15th birthday. 16 might be a stretch. 😢

This pic is from 2007 to put that in perspective. Gent looking nonplussed in the tire has been gone a few years.

Since there's never enough pics of dogs in cruisers, this might be the only dog in a 40 pic I have.

She's not super thrilled about the situation.

I thought this was kinda cool at least.

Having a go at building an acoustic guitar. So I needed some steam.

Steam generator mark 1...

PXL_20211123_212655230.jpg

Had to laugh when I showed my boss, because I essentially built a single pass firetube boiler. We have 4 pass ones at work

It sorta worked but was really inefficient. Blue flame from exhaust equals a lot of wasted heat.

Mark 2, I added a second pass and strapped a stack to the side. Exhaust is now only warm...

IMG_20211126_093213_01.jpg

Next will be to scrounge some boiler cladding to insulate it.

Took 15 minutes to start making steam, and another 15 to get the steam box up to 175f.

Insulation should help, but not bad for a little **** around project.

Love it. Power Engineering training/career applied to making a guitar! Nice work man. Keep us updated on how the project goes.

Ha, yeah kinda fun. Not actually the best way to bend the sides, so I might end up using it more for boat stuff, but it was a pretty fun little experiment. Next time I'm under the house I'll grab an old chunk of duct and an insulation sleeve, that'll make for a better steam box than that cobbled together thing.
Looking forward to the updates! Are you shooting for something like this?
Don't know how that photo got so large.

Might have too many strings for me.

Main motivation for this is to build a multiscale or fan fret guitar. I've wanted to try one for years, but I've yet to see one in a store to actually test, and it's a bit too much money to buy something like that without at least trying it first.

They're the freaky looking ones where the frets aren't parallel with each other.

Plus guitars are fun to build.

This was last years project. Pretty basic to build a slab guitar compared to an acoustic.

This is kinda cool.

Father in law gave me a few books for my birthday a while back. One of them was this

I guess it was one his dad's textbooks when he was training to be a mechanic.

One of the exams was to build a battery, and then start a Model T with it in under 5 cranks.

Anyways thought it was cool. Talk about a lost skill... useful book post apocalypse I'd think.

Other books were workshop manuals for a model a or t. Neighbour actually has a model a, I'll have to take it over there.

And in case that's not old school enough for you, this was folded inside the book

That is really cool. How the world has changed....

Renewed the insurance on the Ambo… rates are down $350.

I’d bet rates will be better on the 40 also.

Plus side… cheaper insurance.

Negative side… you’ll get F’ed even worse than before if you’re in an accident… and don’t have a lawyer to F’em back. Or something like that. :(

I know there is more to it… but you’re still screwed.

Looking forward to the updates! Are you shooting for something like this?

Suck it frenchie :flipoff2:

This was my break from the rust and grease of cruisers for the last few months.

Still some fine tuning to do, but it hasn't imploded with string tension....yet.

Weirdest thing about the weird frets, is you can't really tell they're weird when you're playing it after a few minutes.

@Rigpig or anyone else with a Dually rig.

“Airless tires” $200 each. 19.5 adapter to fit F350 are about $900 retail. Should say tubeless… as they are not airless…

I seriously considered them but they would be 8x170 and mine are 8x165.
