SOR still lists these on their website. $1800 or so per side.

Maybe I should make some more........Before and after pics of the same piece of metal. I did not paint it myself but I made the sides as well as inner box walls so she's got a double walled box. I should mention also it is not my truck. I will be making another set for my personal truck in a few (3-4) months.

Awesome work!

PM'd ya.

I would be happy to make box sides for anyone when I do mine. Shipping would be the difficult part. To be clear, the picture above of the raw side has no rib around the wheel arch. The string of holes around the arch is for a laser cut 1/2" thick steel arch that is bolted from the inside and ground and shaped to imitate the factory rib. The guy that painted it used some sort of body filler to make it "feather" together and look original. You could also go without the holes and put on some rubber trim or aftermarket fender flares. The panel also has flanges at the front and rear to wrap around the corners as the factory one does. The bottom edge also has a short flange that is like the factory one. The rib just below the notches for the box hooks does not reach either end of the panel (like the factory). I made this by actually cutting a slit in from the ends and after the rib is formed the slit edges meet so that a quick weld and buff makes the rib end. A note about the box hooks - they are not equally spaced on both sides of the truck. I made both sides from measuring one side and forming one left and one right. When the body guy put them on his factory box rails one side did not line up so he had to remove some hooks and move them to fit my notches. The truck I measured was a late model circa 1978. I have no idea if it will fit late 60's trucks.

I will start a new thread - sorry AATLAS1X

I plan on making mine this coming April. Last time I made three sets for a local guy that does NOS restorations. That was like three years ago so I can't even remember what gauge of steel I used. I think it was 16 but could have been 14 - I have all the info at work but I'm off till the 5th and it's all the way across town. I also don't have an actual cost until I check material prices as well.

People reading this thread and thinking of asking for a side or a set should know the following:

1) There is no wheel arch rib - I have no way of stamping it in.
2) These are punched out on a CNC Turret punch - not stamped in a press.
3) The hip, main rib and perimeter flanges are formed on a 10' Amada press brake.
4) The "bumps" that straddle each hook are done one at a time in a manual punch machine.
5) These sides were made to fit a 1978 FJ45 by measuring a removed rusty one - I have no idea if they will fit the late 60's trucks, I've never seen one in person.
6) I have no price until Jan 6th - I have to check current material costs.
7) The wheel arch rib is a laser cut 1/2" thick drilled/tapped and bolted on affair - see pic two.
8) I can make custom lengths and wheel positions :D
9) I can also make the end, top and bottom channels for the tailgate as well as a blank tailgate panel - see pic three. (four hinge model)
10) I have made inner walls to make the box double walled - no more dents from cargo - see pic one.
11) I am in Canada and have no idea how to ship these or what customs will require so shipping will be up to the buyer - I would of course package them.
12) That's all I can think of at the moment - please direct questions to the new thread
