Hi All -
After a year of searching, I was finally able to land a low mileage 100 series 04' and it's been my DD for the past 6 glorious months. The itch is back to try something older, and even before the 100 series, the 62 has always been of interest to me. So with this post I am trying to avoid the pain of the long search, in hopes there are still a few 62s out there with owners that are not overly money thirsty.
While I'm in Norcal, i dont need the vehicle to be local (though obviously preferred). What I am hoping to find is something with less than 125K original miles, zero rust, and very good interior. I'm less picky on the particulars otherwise (i.e. minor dings are expected/some fading paint/minor maintenance/etc). Mechanically I would expect to find something very well maintained with clear records showing that. In my search for the 100 series, I went through a handful of PPIs and dealing with some folks that claimed ignorance on issues that showed up once we started to actually dig in. I would love to avoid that this time as there are plenty of LC professionals that can smell B.S. and it tends to get uncovered in the DD.
In terms of cost, I'm thinking somewhere in the range of $18-$25K, with the upper range obviously being for something closer to excellent condition. I'm in no rush and welcome the opportunity to engage with the community, so would gladly take on any advice/questions/comments as I go through this process.
