I think we might have one of those ETF seats we got from a friend that my mom has been using in her car. Will have to check.

If we get snow we NEED to do a little drive meetup and share some YJs in the winter wonderland
Sunday morning breakfast or brunch some where? Will have to see how much we get and what is open. Not sure where but we can discuss as it happens. Thougth about getting 4 wheelers ready, but will be a little cold to be on those and 12+ inches may be a bit much. The 80 will be ready!

Good idea personally won't be able to do a full meal will have to play it by ear about meet up.

So you want to learn about child seats and our Cruisers eh?

Rear facing is tough in my GX, doable but tough as rear seats need to be slid all the way back and even then front seats (remind you I am short) need to scoot up a bit beyond my preferred setting to accommodate. Doable in GX, I would say impossible in the 80 unless the front seat passengers were below 5’.

Then kids graduate to front facing. We have a fancy swivel (both rear and front facing) Cybex that cost way too much damn money. Nice once set up, but a total bitch to get mounted with the LATCH system in new cars. Even more fun to mount with the seatbelt (hence my morning F Bombs yesterday) in the 80 without LATCH and you have to make do with the rear tether (I used the old 3rd seatbelt mount). My 2yo is on the shorter side and with my drivers seat in the 80 as far up as I can comfortably drive, his feet are propped against my headrest.

Then the kids graduate to booster seats. Back in my day you just sat in it and put the belt across your lap. Nowadays they use LATCH so if you have an old rig you’re SOL and your older kid sits in the regular seatbelt for short trips and a too-small regular car seat meant for younger kids on the long ones.

Fun fun shuttling young kids in rigs almost 10x their age!

@FamilyCamper Looks like you are going to get your snow wheeling in this weekend!

The fam and I are headed to Wintergreen this weekend to ski. Wife was not very happy to hear that the GX will not be done until next week and I’m insisting we take the 80 in case we get the snow they are calling for….she doesnt fully understand her Denali on 22” touring tires may have troubles in 2’ of the white stuff that my 2 Lexi should walk all over.

So this is going to be a big weekend for me. I've got a Goose show in Ashville Friday and I plan on driving to camp afterwards (after I clear the very late arrival with John vee). Expect a very red eyed dumbass to shine lights in your tent around 1am. 😁

Don't hit me with a piece of split wood....oh wait that's me! Im good.

Wintergreen trip has been postponed by the Mrs. due to weather concerns....therefore, I'm totally down to break the 80 out of its warm garage for some snow exploration this weekend if others want to meet up.

Just as a heads up for you and everyone else with kids in car seats in older cruisers. The LATCH system for a booster seat is not actually meant to be a restraint. It’s meant to keep the seat from becoming a projectile when not in use. Obviously this is different than using it to secure the seat for forward or rear facing with the harness. Your son is totally fine to use the booster without LATCH and the seatbelt like normal. Much safer and actually law until 8 now.

Goose will be epic there ! Here's when I got caught at a restaurant talking about them and they were sitting right next to us. Saw them that evening at the broadberry.

So after owning my 23 Limited 4runner for 3 years, Today I found the heated steering wheel button :)
its because you barely drive that beautiful machine ;)

At the 20sec mark I spotted a few land cruisers I know.

Mike is a good guy. I think he is going to lead us around one day at SAS. Some of us have been lucky enough to get in on some of his merch in his Etsy store.

welp not so sure about that meetup. This icy mixture is less appealing to drive through...
How's Afton Dave??
