I’ve found a 1999 Land Cruiser that seems to be in great shape and I’m considering a purchase. I would appreciate any tips from current/previous owners of the 100. What should I look out for? Is there anything about a 1999 that I’ll “hate, “wish it had”, etc. over other years?

I know alot of the ad info is fluff and doesn’t matter. The pluses I’m noticing are well maintained and rear locker.

Here’s the info:

I just found this thread...

1999 Land Cruiser

Any other pointers besides what is listed there?

I got a chance to go look at the truck.

Up-side looks good except rust bubble in the upper rear hatch.
Inside looks good except wetness in the driver’s floorboard.
Underside - well, it’s a bit rusty. :-(
The rear bumper cross member is pretty bad. Looks like the front swaybar mount is broken from the frame. Spare tire carrier has rust rot. The entire frame has been coated with some kind of undercoat.

It has been registered in Massachusetts. Dang Yankee trucks!

Dang, that is a shame. Up north they use some heavy duty undercoating to help slow the inevitable. That bottom side looks pretty rough. Some of it less than others, but are those holes on the frame in some of the pictures? If so, then it would have to be really cheap to be worth the try.

They are great rigs and the prices are really coming down. If I didnt have a 80+ mile commute every day, I'd be looking for one to daily, but right now it isnt in the cards. I've ridden in a few and they are super cushy.

P.S. I like that color a lot, and the interior looks really nice too.

I would definitely pass on that one Jamie. Keep checking CL and the classifieds section on here and you’ll be able to find one in that price range that’s a southern truck.

I have definitely passed on it. Posted the original post before actually looking at it up close. I stopped by to see it before meeting the guy there and took the photos above. Way too much rust. Yes, @jynx, those are holes in the frame.

I’m looking for the right truck at the right time for the right price. No hurry here. I’ve got a while before it will be a little more of a need.

Wow that frame has had a hard life. Good job on passing on that one, looked like a headache

I was tempted to go look at that one too. You saved me some time and I thank you.
I was ready to buy...until I laid on the ground and looked up. Oh well.
