Gutter brackets & bars to hold rod vault, factory bars to flimsy. Ditch brackets should be ready next week. Get a new head unit and rear tire carrier that's about it for awhile.

Did you say head??? I think you want to keep yours...oh for the cruiser...sorry was reading another post were folks were just pissed at each other. Is the head gasket showing signs of going bad???

Perhaps he is talking about the Stereo???

Nice Truck!
Could you do me a huge favor when you get a chance?
Throw a tape on that rod holder and provide some approximate dimensions.
Looking for Box Size and tubing length and ID?

I want to make one out of a metal Electrical Enclosure and Conduit and weld it together.
Should be a simple project, and I will document it for others. I'm thinking I will weld it directly to the roof rack as no reason to remove it.
I see they are now $300.
When I was in MT everyone had one and keeping rods out of cabin is so nice!
I would just leave a setup in there permanently.

Per Rod Vault:
The Rod Vault is 10.5’ long, 11” wide and sits 6” above the top of your crossbars (5” if you’re really tight on space—but better to figure 6”). The mounting clamps will fit crossbars up to 3.5” wide and 1.5” thick/deep—though the TRV will easily accommodate thicker crossbars simply by using longer bolts. (The standard bolts are 2” long.) The tubes are 1 7/8" Outside Diameter and 1 1/2" Inside Diameter. The tube clamps hold the tubes 1 5/8" apart. The reel housing will accommodate reels up to 4.5" diameter.

The guy I purchased my 80 from had put in a new JVC and a CB in the spot the old radio sat and looks very factory...

I can put one on in like an hour...still at work but going home

Here you go...go busy and forgot to post this. You cant really see the scratch's from the front...close up different story but looks nice.

s*** canned factory rack, yes some rust was starting to form under mounts.
Gutter mounts are far superior

Nice, it looks great. I've got a 10 year old "stock height" lift that's sagged to the ground. I've been planning a 2.5 on 285s but everyone on MUD is obsessed with big tires to make up for "other" shortcomings I assume. (Just kiddin, don't get your panties in a wad). I'm keeping my 285s I consider them perfect for actual overlanding, and I don't plan to go taller than 2.5 for the same reasons. We fly fish down here in Texas too, hit me up if you're ever son this way.

Thanks, I really like the 285s, rig still has good acceleration doesn't feel like it's under geared at all. 2.5 lift is perect for daily drivers imo, I really appreciate all the help and advice I got here.
