Thanks for looking out. Wonder how much it would cost to ship. I think the mohave teflons and terra grapplers taken off the FJ would look sweet on the LX though as daily driver set. Hmmmmmm.... Wonder if he still has the front seats.

For shipping, I had a potential buyer for my FJ40 get quoted "to" Texas around $850, so you could be looking between $850 to $1k in shipping.

If you are looking for shippers, avoid DAS (Dependable Auto Shippers) like the plague. Worst customer service I have ever experieced. I would rather deal with the DMV than deal with DAS again.

If you're serious about it, you can always fly out and drive back. I looked at a Newport Beach cruiser for someone on the board from TX. He flew out here and drove back!

Oh man, if I could I would. We have 1 month old now and the wife would not be up for a road trip or haw me gone for too long.

That's what I did. Booked the one-way to Denver on a Friday evening, and was back home Saturday night. It was a lot of driving (about 1k), but it wasn't too bad.

Flew out Friday evening, checked it out Friday night, drove for a bit (running on adrenaline after getting the new rig), and then crashed for the night. Got up early, and drove home.

I did a business trip to South America for a week when our first was two months old. Just tell her you are doing it for "the family". ;)

Where in South America? I am from Peru.

congrats

I am/was a FJC to 80 convert, no regrets when I did the move. If I only knew then what I know now when I dropped the $$ to buy a new Toyota I would now spend the same coin importing a bitchin Diesel cruiser. Anyhow congrats on your decision. I would check with Kiwis Karriers too for transport of a vehicle.

I will give them a call if I decide to buy from out of state. Thanks for the info. I am driving around in a stock FJC now :( Feels weird.

Out of the blue a co-worker walks up and asks why my FJ looks so different. I tell him it's for sale and he says let me call my bank. I thought he was kidding. But he asked how much I wanted and we negotiated a price. I will find out tomorrow if it's sold. Yikes!

Wow...that 97 is clean!! I am going to have to keep that one in mind.

Sale fell apart now FJ might have bad wheel bearings :( Taking it to dealer to see if I can get them to do under warranty.

You have a better chance now that it's back to stock! And maybe take it to another dealer near by that didn't see all modified. Don't settle for no, I once took my old S-10 to several dealers before I got one to cover the problem under waranty.

Good advice. I took the FJC to Mike Miller Toyota in Culver City. They have all my service records and $$ at that dealership. I just received a call from them and they are replacing the front left wheel bearing and hub under warranty. Parts won't be in until tomorrow AM so they are providing me with a loaner.

FJ is now sold and I am looking for an 80. Almost 24/7 LOL! I found one in Norcal, lifted 33" but no front and rear locker but has center lock switch (?). Has some preventive maint completed. Going research and search some more :)

The center lock switch locks up the viscous coupler in the transfer case. Kind of cool to have as mine only will do it in low range.
