Think I'm out, no heat in the truck and 18* Sat night is gonna scare me away. Besides, got Plan B for the front of the mini...

I'm going to try and make it.... Jasper location for Sat. I don't plan on camping..though.

that may be a little complicate as we are not comeing back out until sunday. This trail takes 7-8 hours to go from one end to the other so we are splitting it into 2 days. If you must leave sat.evening i will get you out to pavement. may give us a good reason for a night run.

Everyone who can please bring some FIREWOOD. something tells me we may need it.

I have a condition called sleep apnea, which makes camping a royal pain in the @$$..
Looks like lows are going to be the low 20's.
I don't want to cause any issues for anyone by not being able to camp.

I dont think it will be too much of a problem if you dont mind hanging around while we set up camp. After that myself or someone else will lead you out to the hwy.

No problem on my end....If I can make it....I'm on your timeline, not mine. I'll help or do whatever is needed.

Werd has that same condition ( and a few others ). After he passes out, you could steal his machine :D. He's got one that runs off a big ole battery.

I've got a CPAP machine...too. I 've not tried it on a batteries... don't know if a car battery can power it through the night or not? I need to check into that... sleep apnea is a very aggrivating condition...the only good thing is that it can be managed to some degree. I do have a power inverter somewhere that I bought one time. Maybe I can figure out something that works (not likely by Sat,but I'll see).

Do you guys generally camp out on the ground in Tents or what? I've got some camping stuff ...could rig up some type of tarp or something as I don't have a modern tent... I do have a shelter half combination (army surplus) and sleeping bag.

Werd had something 'bout the size of a small car battry, and he had it working for two nights. Don't know much else about it, though.

BillRiley, Heckler and I slept in the back of our trucks last year (60 & 80s). Everybody else slept in a tent... except Nitro Bob. He slept in the back of his open-air 40 one night, and then rolled himself up burrito-style in a blue tarp on the ground the next night.

OK, I'm in (got trailer today)...trying to get a friend to come along with me and is doubtful we will camp, but I'm looking into the camping business and may acquire a generator (honda) to power the *$&%^ CPAP device.

Have fun and stay warm. Post up the stories and pictures when you are out.

Creek is up alittle but still safe to cross. So we shouldnt have any trouble going in from jasper. See ya in the morn.

Well, was all loaded up to go and went out to start the F250...and, it turned over but wouldn't fire. After trying several times, finally put a MM on the Glow Plug Relay, and nothing...:bang::bang: I futzed with it, and even thought of bypassing it, but in the end decided that it wasn't worth the hassle, finally running the Batts down...Sorry I missed it!

Andy, the phone was in the house and didn't see you'd called until around 11...figured ya'll we're well on you're way.

Todd,
Have you been able to trace the problem yet? Do you need anything?

gotta say I wanted to go on this but backed out last week after seeing the forecast. I do believe IT WAS THE RIGHT CALL as it was 18* at my house on Friday night north of ATL.

Andy--Are there 2 skin patches on the seat? :flipoff2:

Thanks for having me... (I did not camp) and was just there on Sat. It was cold. I left a little after dark and it was about 25F went I got back to Jasper, TN and loaded my 60 on the trailer. Had a good time and meet some good people.

They set up camp and had a fire going about mid-day, then we spent the after-noon riding. No-one in our group of 4 vehicles got stuck or broke anything while I was there. Did get hung up on the occasional rock. There were a lot of jeeps out and about too.

Hope the five who camped were able to stay warm....I think there was plenty of firewood but if the wind was bad....hard to get much heat off an open fire.

Cold was the key word of the run.

A jeep and a dodge truck got stuck on one of the steep rock climbs that led to an over-look area, they had a whole crew of about 5 other vehicles with them.

I was suprised where my truck went, had a few minor issues with ground clearance but I guess that happens to anyone, along with some tire scrubbing on the front. Even the rear brakes froze up after sitting at camp for a while.
