And last batch of Rumpleshank before my wife starts driving it. I am back on the 23rd so my updates will slow to a crawl until I get back or if my wife calls to complain that there are problems :p

Seriously, I don't mind breaking it in, and I will be on spring break in a few weeks and can do whatever work you need.

Dyno

When is Spring Break? I may just take you up on it. I really want to concentrate on getting the suspension right so I can start playing with the truck. The front is too low (stinkbug) and with 35s I think it should be a little higher to clear, maybe a short body lift. I don't want rubbing. I need new shocks and bump stops.

I am on SB the first week of April.

Just got a call from Richard. The truck is running and according to him "it sounds really strong". It's waiting in line now to get smogged. My wife picks it up tomorrow!!!

Bouncy bouncy

Hmmmm.... Wasn't the :princess: driving when it dropped a log ?

Dyno's offer might be better than you think :grinpimp:

It's all about timing. She is adamant about driving Rumpleshanks. I may not have a choice :(

I have so far told her no long drives. Never go above 55 and never go over 2500 rpms. Then after 500 miles bring it back to K&H for an oil change and inspection.

Am I missing something?

Sounds good, but additionally, perhaps, should she smell any unusual coolant or oil burning, maybe a quick trip back to K&H for a lookie. Although I'm sure they're gonna test is fully before it goes out of the shop.

Good luck! Rig looks good!

One thing I learned with my 60 - things are not always as they seem. I love the truck, just not PO's. They did not love the truck:mad:

I second this. I love my truck but not the PO. they hated the truck. every time i get something straightened out, i discover something else.

oh well, once i get finished with it(which i think i am) it'll last another 30 years

by the way that was a great story man.

After every rebuild I have done, I just drive the truck.

Has not seemed to make a difference in longevity.

:meh:

The :princess: is just going to pin it around every corner then?

Everyone has a different theory on how to "properly" break in a motor.

Consistent low RPM,
Vary the RPM
Do not take on long trips
Break it in the way you are going to drive it..
etc..

I'd just let her go and make sure she pays attention to the way the truck sounds and the gauges.

The truck passed smog first shot with flying colors!!!!

Its now worth $50 more today then it was yesterday :p

You kidding me? It's now worth infinitely more than it was. I hate dealing with that crap!!! :D great news.

Richard called to say that there is a cold start issue. Runs perfect warm. He's looking into it.

Truck is home!!

Still has the cold start issue. Maybe I will start a new thread.

Just waiting a few more minutes before I can head over to AAA to get her registered!!!

So it takes all sorts of fiddling to get her to start when cold. I did notice that the fuel bowl will drain overnight. I checked a few minutes ago and sure enough, the bowl is empty. Once its warmed up its great.

BTW, finally got to drive it yesterday and OMFG!!!!!

Rebuilt trans, transfer and motor and I have never had an LC start and drive THIS smooth. I could not be happier right now.

The 315's are a little noisy and quick stops are a little scary. So I think my first two items to take care of are the suspension fixes and upgraded brakes. T100 MC, 4runner calipers, etc.

Use a 4R MC - will be closer to stock LC pedal pressure. Same clamping force, just more "normal" feel to the pedal... You can thank Dynosoar and ntsq for that one.

Well...for whatever reason the Non-Op wasn't processed correctly according to the DMV and AAA said there is nothing they can do about it despite the fact that I did it thru AAA.

$637 later I have it fully registered with current tags.

Can't believe how freaking expensive this truck is. Ugh.
