Sorry ..... that was supposed to read MAF, not MAP. The VAF we have in the 94 is a Karmen Vortex type unit that uses frequency vs. voltage.

Oh and sorry we are talking apples to oranges, Rice. haha. I just went to the MAPECU website and the MapECU is a piggyback, I had zero luck getting a piggyback to work on my truck. I am talking about a standalone ECU in parallel to the stock ECU, something like the AEM Infinity, Haltech, etc.

MegaSquirt can do it, I'm sure of that. It has provisions to easily use MAP and MAF simultaneously. It could be used to control ignition and fueling while leaving the stock ECU in place for transmission control. I think they even have an add-on tranny controller if you wanted to got that route and pull the stock ECU altogether.

Yeah I was thinking MapECU was more like megasquirt, but it's a piggy back. I do not think you want to pull the computers, there are just too many tie in systems like the 4wd computer, etc. but MegaSquirt would be able to do a parallel setup as well.

My buddy (his resume includes squeezing an LS motor into a Miata) agrees that the megasquirt would be the way to go. Do you know if anyone has successfully used their tranny controller on the A442F?

You don't need the trans controller. I would not mess with it. Nor would I think about taking out the stock ECU, there are just too many things tied to it. the 4wd computer, cruise control, etc.

Those of you that don't know the context of this song might not find it as funny as some others. But still silly (turn up the volume)

This should be the new required format for all build threads.

That's a lot of pressure. Are current builds somehow grandfathered out of this?
As my (very neglected) thread on the 44 falls into that category, I'll go with yes. Grandfathering will apply.

Like I mentioned a little while back when someone critiqued my video. HEY I shot a damn video. Some of us were born of an age when taking photos and video of every waking moment and giving a damn about how the photo or video is composed was not even a consideration. It never occurs to me to pull out my phone and start taking photos of what is going on.

We took photos of special moments in life, stuck them in an book and forgot about them until we drag them out to shame children and show relatives. I've never even taken a Selfie. Cleaning my hands to take a pic or video in the shop is a PIA :)

The photos I post up on Facebook are pure advertising, once in a while a personal photo and that is how I get photos from my phone to the internet. I also take photos of different assemblies I am taking apart for reference when going back together. I have pulled apart countless drum brake assemblies, yet I still take a quick picture before I start. In this regard taking photos has become a tool of sorts, once again no desire to share them with the world.

I do like photos of HAMONs etc. The photos of James mounting the spare will come in handy when his Dr wants to know why he is walking funny :)

James, sorry to :deadhorse: but I've been reading the MAP-ECU3 user manual for the last couple hours, and while I'm no expert, I don't get it. In Intercept Mode (not the optimum setup but a solid easy install for small amounts of boost) MAP-ECU even leaves the flapper style VAF meter in place and calibrates itself to the VAF output. Anything beyond small amounts of boost is no good because the flapper would simply stay open the whole time, so for larger boost the VAF should be eliminated and there is more involved tuning of the MAP sensor for load. Did tuner keep the MAP-ECU3 or do you have it?

Hoping you won't have to wait too long before getting the amount of output you were wishing for.

The one thing I did get stuck with is a second "Innovate SCG-1 boost controller/AF gauge". Maybe it's something you want to encorporate into your build? I'll give it to you cheap.

No. Wanna finish it for me? It runs and drives but not well. Still need to figure out injectors, ecu, fuel pump. I'm hoping to integrate everything with the existing aem boost controller.

So. No update really other than I got burned out on it and started another project. :)

Haha it happens, but don't give up on it. Just try what I have said ;). Go standalone and wire it in parellel with the stock ECU. I know they tried AEM Infinity trying to run the stock transmission and failed but you don't have to do that. I have had many conversations with John Reed who is probably the most iconic tuner in the US and he swears up and down he could get an 80 to run completely on an AEM Infinity or Motec, but the cost investment for someone like that to dial in the shifting is just too huge. Let the stock ECU handle the trans.

Anyways what's the new project?!!
