I wouldn’t call what you are tackling “lazy”! You’re making me feel lazy!

I have probably bitten off more than I can chew on this. But I'm just trying to keep making progress anywhere I can when I can. It'll get there eventually. Hopefully I'll have some nice updates soon.

This morning before work I got a little chopping done. I cut out the old tool box and rusty floor on the driver's side of the rig.

While I was in there I cut into the tube behind the seats. Completely rotted through and full of crap. Plan is to out it out all the way across and replace it with a new, heavier 4x3 tube that is a little stouter.

Also, we discovered the space between the inner and outer rockers was a perfect 1.5". The plan is to get some nice tough tubular and sandwich it between the rocker panels. We will weld it into the new tube at the front of the tub, and the supports under the floor to create some better side impact protection.

I also started welding in some bracing so I can cut out the rest of the floor. I got 40 feet of 1x1 square tubing for the bracing, and will also use that to make some new floor bracing. Floor is going to be 14g sheet. The 4x3 square tube going in behind the floor is .120 wall and should add some nice structural strength.

Got some great progress done today. First I got my spring hangers welded back on. After research and advice of Mudders I did not do a shackle reversal.

After that I got the Saginaw PS box mounting plate on and boxed in the passenger side of the front frame rail.

Family flys in next week for Christmas/New Years so doubt I’ll get much else done for a while.

Been a while since I made any progress on the project. I cleaned up welds on the patch in the side and the fuel filler door. Beyond that, I decided to hold off on further work on the flor and body until after the acid dip. I want to get the rust off before I continue on it. So for now I'm going to work on the frame. I picked up paint and primer from Eastwood just for the frame. I have not figured out where to get the paint and primer for the body as of yet. I also extended my sandblasting/paint booth from 14 to 22' long. I need to add some more air filtration and high quality lighting before I get to work on the frame. Hopefully will have the frame in and start sandblasting in the next few weeks.

Today I got the spring perches for the rear axles out. Had to sawzall them out and then drill out the old bushings. Was a bear to get those things out, but it is done.

Then I worked on cutting out the rotten metal at the front of the rear floor. The new .120 wall 4x3 tube is going to be a perfect fit just need to clean up the old metal at the quarter panels and then work on fitting the tube in. Then I can move to the new floor and bracing.
