Hi all.

Now that I am spending a lot more time in the truck, I want to upgrade the radio..again.

When I first got the truck, I installed a cheapo Pioneer so I would have a CD player. Stock everything else.

On all my other vehicles, I have always purchased Eclipse units and polk amps/speakers.

My truck is a Std Cab so bass is going to be a challenge. AND I don't want to lose my behind the seat space.

So, I am asking for ideas.

Will the door panels hold a 6.5" component? Doesn't look like they will but...

Any other ideas?

I would rather not cut into the dash so dash mount tweeters are out.

Thanks.

why cut anything?

dont hack up your truck for sound!

i had a pair of some white speakers with these tweeter things in the middle that pivoted.
now i jammed that one under the glove box, and the other speaker i found in a old POS honda. i put that one on the other side. look at my meatmobile thread.

Oh, those speakers are infinity.

i have an old alpine deck. its showing its age. i have an eclipse in my 4skinn'r. its only a year old and is a POS. does not eject half the time, and barley reads scratched discs. used to work better than anything.

i suppose stero junk is a preference thing. I dont spend money on tunes. rather put money into function. well to a point. but glow in the dark paint on a skull is cool.

I fit two twelves in the back of my standard cab, regret it now, so i only have one. I miss my other one, half the sound, and its only on the passenger side now :(

Ive seen a 2wd standard cab with 4 8's behind the seat. The box had about a .5" space above and below the sub. IT ran the length of cab and it blasted bigger than my 2 12's.

You can make a speaker box reallly really tough if you cover it in liquid nail and then put some fake carpet patchs on it...

If the door-panels are anything else than mint condition i would't think twice about putting speakers in the doors... cut of the lower section of the panel and replace with thick MDF or something.. You could even make a box and tilt the speakers
You could probably fit 6X9's..wich would be enough... and no amp needed... these cars are to small on the inside to fit all that stuff.. You can "make" bass by mountingthe speakers to something solid and heavy..

Wristpin: So it's ok to "hack up" your truck for better offroading and spray it skullcamo, but not to make two holes for improved sound?:flipoff2:;)

I can't justify a sweet stereo in my truck because I'll never be able to appreciate it ... unless I stop and turn off the engine. Between the engine and the MT/KMs it's not worth it. Oh,

I have a Kenwood something stereo, 6x9 speakers in boxes behind the seats on the floor, and some 4T speakers in the factory dash location (had Pioneer speakers, but changed to something nicer). I ain't cutting up my truck for sound.

i have had good luck with the late model decks in the older trucks, i had a 3rd gen runner deck in my old 1st gen runner, and my new 1st gen has a scion deck.. I plan on getting the 4" pioneers from Walmart for the oem spot in the dash, and put some 6x9's in boxes in the back.. wont sound Killer, but Way better than stock, and loud enough for me!
