There are lots of guys more knowledgeable than I when it comes to all things Toyota but I can tell you this, I was stepping over dollars to pick up dimes when I started my 55 build doing exactly what you describe and trying to reuse parts I had. If you start with a list of all the parts you would like to eventually end up with and the cost associated compared to the cost to rebuild an inferior part that total difference in real money is insignificant compared to the total amount of money you’ll get wrapped into a pig once you tear one down as far as you are.
Once I sold my stock T-case and replaced with a split case I had about a $200.00 difference VS rebuild my old and the cost to retube my drive shafts was quoted at about $250.00, at the end of the day I can’t tell you if it was worth it but for $500.00 or less I don't have to think about it potentially being a weak link.
I made a lot of costly mistakes early on and I’m literally paying the price now, these things get expensive when you gut them and start over so you might as well build it like you’re going keep it forever.
Good luck, it looks like you are off to a good start.
