I was selling my Pig but I've decided to keep it. I've always liked piggies and I'll be damned if I can ever find another one in this good condition ever again with no rust. This one is real purdy and it suits the family better than anything else.

I need to buy a front bumper. Is there a good place for this and is it the same as a 40?

Also, need front seat upholstery. Bottom part only.

And finally, I'd like to get a lift kit. Thinking 2" but I'll end up getting 4". Where should I get that from? what tire sizes run best with the lift kits? Basically what's my minimum so I don't look like a moron and what is too big to turn it.

Lots of more moronic questions to come. Stay tuned

Thanks!
John

I took a bumper off a 40 and it bolted up..... not radically different... for the record, a skidplate from a 40 also bolted up with slight modification.

What are your wheeling plans for it? (pertains tp the suspension question)

X2 on the local upholstery..... seems to be a viable solution...

Have a decent seat cover; yours for the shipping; don't need it anymore since had the front seat reupholstered.........send me a PM if interested;

Hey John...Post some pics already...Jeese

I really am that stupid that I didn't put up pics. Some people might have seen it from eBay or the FS thread. I got such a good deal on it I couldn't sell it and hope to ever get another in this condition for the money.

Running boards are coming off tonight. SOR is having a sales next week so buying a 4" lift "kit." Probably put 33's on all in the next month. needs front seat work and I'm debating about fixing or putting in buckets. New exhaust going on Monday at 8 am.

Go with buckets, you'll be glad you did.

I've heard that. My buddy has a 2006 Caddy CTS with the leather and the seat belts built in. I've heard these bolt in relatively easily. Look comfortable. Any one that bolts in best?

Howdy! Any kind of bucket:cool: is better than the bench. I picked up some old van seats for $25 at a yard sale;p and fabbed :banana:up some brackets. Well worth it. Don't knock the running boards, they are just primative :doh:sliders!! I got my boards and fender lips from JCWhitney 20 years ago, and love them still. I have bent the boards nearly up to the bottom of the doors:crybaby: a couple of times, but they bend right back with a little help :idea:from my BFH. I trimmed them to fit up :banana:as close as possible for max clearance. I spent a year in Bedford :censor:with USAF, where are you at? John

That's a hell of a cowcatcher on there!

Interesting, the early style aircleaner...

I have the SOR bumper and grillguard. Fairly inexpensive and decent quality.

Sweet lookin pig, inkpot!

I got half the running boards off this afternoon for an hours work. They were put on very well. Have to get a cutting blade on my grinder to get the rest off. Some carriage bolts that just keep spinning. Looks much better without them!

Can anyone tell if I have a lift on this pig?? It sounds like a stupid question but the pig has 31"s on it and the clearance seems very high. There are no other pigs around to compare for ground clearance. Can someone measure from the ground to the bottom on theirs so I can tell? I want to buy 33's for it and was planning on getting a lift kit. It'll save huge $$$$ if it's already lifted. Seems like it is possibly 2".

Looks like it might have a rear main seal leak. I'll get a better peek tomorrow.

Inkpot- I'm in Duxbury and moving to Millis, MA next week (south of Framingham) Bedford is apparently very quiet these days. Weymouth Naval Air station is being built into a hollywood sound stage. No joke.

Here's 2 1/2" with 33s...

I am willing to bet the leak is your oilpan gasket. Try that first, it's cheaper.

ps:

I'm running inkpot's radiator that he sent me...

Checked the oil pan gasket already and it looks clean. It's more on the transmission and X-fer case. I'll have some cash to fix stuff when the troopy sells.

Running board removal left a bunch of sheet metal screw holes in the inside edge of the wheel wells. I can hear it rusting already. Gonna get that plugged up and painted in the next few weeks. This piggy will never see snow or salt but can't be too careful.

.

It's a kangaroo crusher.

The truck has the dual fuel propane set up which I'll probably remove. I'm guessing that the early cleaner is a result of the type of propane apparatus that connects to the carb. Not sure but it's all as good as gone.

What do your springs look like? In the states, 79 pigs had 5 plus a diving board.

Based on what you said above and the pictures (propane, ff, bumper, steps) I'm guessing the truck was an Aussie truck. Does it have drums in the front still? I would hold off on ditching the air cleaner as many non-usa trucks retained the early style air cleaner with the 2F.

It is Aussie. has drums on the front which I'll probably keep. Is there a K&N type set-up that would fit? Thinking the airflow would help performance better than the present set up.

For Father's day I'm getting 3 hours of uninterrupted cruiser time. Doesn't sound like a lot but I'm moving in 10 days and still have to finish packing up the house. Also getting a BJ (not the cruiser type) ;)

Hey John, you could always do what I am with the front bumpers. Just cut it down to something a little more respectable. I am in the process of doing it and it already looks WAY better. I can post pics but it probably won't be until next week. I'm traveling this week.
