Lets play a game...Add any rule youve learned through personal trial and error for newer owners..And of course, any pictures to accompany the story. I mean RULE.

1. Never throw away old replaced landcruiser parts. Ever.

never hi lift when you are hammered. Seriously.

Never try to highlift an uparmoured HMMVW. It will bend out from under it. Trust me.

Been too long since i was a new owner of something i did not already know.

I think this is becoming a confessional. . so heres two things that I didnt want you guys to know...laugh now - just point and whisper at Uwharrie:

I couldnt figure how to open the hood on the 2nd day of ownership AND
It took me 3 hours to change the wiper blades. (I was afraid I might break something)

Here's another one...

A 40 will crank when in gear without pressing the clutch even when you are reaching through the window turning the key. Garage stairs can be rebuilt :0

Oh my GOD. Wow! I'm impressed...!

And when in 4lo / 1st gear (SM465) will drive through garage doors. Garage doors are expensive. Remind me again how my truck came to be named "Dozer" :D

I'm starting to feel like an underachiever.

when a 100 in 4 low, at decent rpm shifts, from 1st to second in D, it accelerates extremely rapidly. This acceleration can cause an ARB bull bar to cut down trees that land on your roof. My sunroof is now sealed with right stuff. I have also been almost run over from behind from an 80 for the very same reason.

I do know a 40 locked front and rear will climb a tree. Then when the owner is not smart enough at the time to just push in the clutch and roll backwards but instead just turns the tires away from the tree it will do some body damage coming back down into the fender / step. Reason my fender is still crunched. This was about 20 years ago.

Rule: Have a thick skin. Get used to people complimenting your "j**p". Then ask them where they usually hook the tow strap on their rig.

Filing that one away for use! The nosey old lady from across the street (I once caught her peeking over my backyard fence) asked last night "you ever gonna drive that jeep..or is it going to be a lawn ornament?"
Ive never wanted to punch an old lady so much in my life.

Man you guys just made my day! I thought I was the only one with "special" skills

Oh and never stick your hand on the coil while running :D

The only thing i have is when u are in the middle of nowhere death valley (saline valley) in a 40 make sure u have proper tools to change a flat! I had to use some marine corps engineering to get us out

I can attest to this statement  Oh apple pie...

#1 rule IMO. Before making any serious modifications to a truck, drive the hell out of it. Drive it every day. Take long road trips. Go offroading. Do everything you intend to do while in possession of said truck.

Once you have done all of the above, over the course of a year, then start making modifications that will help improve your level of fun. Do not make modifications because people think you should. Do not make modifications based on the opinions of others. Make modifications that you know will make you enjoy your truck, and more importantly yourself, more.
