Hello, I just recently bought an FZJ80 and wanted to make an appearance in this forum. I'm definitely interested in meeting up with other owners for trail rides, etc. and will try to be active in this forum as time allows. Due to my job, I'm fairly busy and can be gone for weeks or months at a time.

Hey hey! I'm a pretty new guy myself and have already hooked up w/ these guys for some fun rides.

Got one question for you- How much do you care about your paint?

I don't. As long as this thing can get me up to the mountains when I want to hike/snowboard or whatever then I don't give two s***s how it looks.

Welcome brotha! We are hoping to have a regular meet this month, we have been missing out on some of the people that dont want out on the trail. But no worries we will be back on the trail soon as well.

Whats the name? have you lived in Tacoma for a while now or are you new to the area as well? Keep checking back here, it gets slow at times but other times things happen fast.

Welcome to Mud

Welcome. Always nice to see new members on here. Lets see some pics of the rig.

I just deflared my 80 and welded the holes. Been itching to weld up someone elses truck. =) What do you plan on doing w/ the holes?

I was planning on de-flaring it this weekend, taping over the holes with aluminum tape, or maybe just grinding the paint off and using bondo. Then I want to coat them and along the bottom of the doors with line-x or any one of those over paint on bed liner products.

I've got to get my post count up in order to post pics, but I think if this counts as #10 then I'm good. Going to pick up some brakes, I'll take pics when I'm out there. :)

Just checked out your thread, I would definitely prefer to weld it and use glaze as a filler but I don't have the equipment to do so. I also don't want to bondo it because then I'll have a bunch of extra bondo kicking around that I don't see myself using. Alu tape seems like the cheapest and easiest option for me, though not preferred by any means.

If you want to do some more welding, I'm definitely down, I know my way around a MIG welder and can do simple body work as well so I wouldn't just be there getting in the way.

My name's Casey, and I'm 26. I've been in the Army 7.5 years, and been at JBLM since last May. Was here before back in '05 until '06. Spent 5 years in Germany and finally made it back here. Won't be PCSing any time soon.

Wassup Casey. Hope to see you at some of our next gatherings. Mahalos for your service!

Casey, aluminum tape sucks. Mine is starting to peel off. I've had it on for about 3 years. Gonna have to grind the rhino lining off and weld the holes and the re-line it.

I'm also on JBLM. I've been here since 2002. Who were you with before Germany? Who are you with now?

Guess I'll try to see when I can weld it, then. I don't mind doing more work now if it saves me work later. I was with 1/5 INF 1-25ID, we re-flagged to 1st SQDN 2d SCR and now I'm here in Ranger Bn.

Oh, and here's a pic of the rig:

Nice rig man. I was in Deuce Four. Came down on recruiting orders so didn't make the trip to Germany.

Oh, and by the way, you're lucky they didn't drag you to Germany... You didn't miss anything, trust me. My ass got trapped there for almost five years, so happy to be gone and back at Lewis.

Yup, that was us. I've heard Germany sucked from almost everyone that went over there. I've been stuck on JBLM since 2002.

Good looking rig man. Lockers or no?

I have the welder, we can get it done man. My place or yours, any of the next couple of weekends would be good.

I'm just down the road with 4th BDE.
