Good looking rig man. Lockers or no?

I have the welder, we can get it done man. My place or yours, any of the next couple of weekends would be good.

If I don't do it this weekend, it would have to wait until sometime in December. I'm down for this weekend if you are, but it would have to be at your place. I live in the barracks on Lewis, kind of upset about it. No lockers, btw. Have an ARB compressor that needs a new relay or something, I haven't looked at it too thoroughly yet. Will do when I'm doing my brakes.

I'm just down the road with 4th BDE.

Okay, I've got a lot of buddies there that also made their way back here to WA.

Yeah, a bunch of dudes I know from 25th have found their way back here. It's kind of weird. We all bitched about this place back in the day and now you can't keep us away. Haha!

Truck looks good. Did all the work yourself?

That picture is how it looks currently, which is how I purchased it. I'm a fan of the "built not bought" philosophy, that being said I don't consider this thing "built" yet. Great foundation though.

Well, I've got everything I need to de-flare minus the coating I plan to use. If I can pick some up somewhere, I think I'm going to try and do it tomorrow at the Auto Skills center on post. If anyone wants to join in and help, let me know. I will probably try to go over there around 11.

I have:

2" painter's tape
Goo-gone adhesive remover
Self-etching primer, one can
Utility knife

Will probably pick up some bondo when I get the coating, I doubt they'll have welder's glaze at the skills center.

Hey man, sorry I kinda' disappeared. I've got the kiddo this weekend and really don't wanna send her to the babysitter so welding is probably out this weekend for me. Should have mentioned it sooner, sorry. =(

Don't sweat it, man. I didn't think the skill center would have a MIG welder, so I called them.

I've got some duplicolor black liner, some sandpaper sponges in 60 and 100 grit, and some bondo, plus all the other stuff. I should be fine. I just hope they have a good welding mask and grinder. I have some holes to weld on my front bumper too, where the bolts were that attached the side steps/fender guards. If you have any tips for me, or things you would have done differently if you could do it again, I'm all ears.

I think I saw you driving on lewis, pulling into the shoppette by the Madigan Gate a little bit past 7pm today. Seeing your 60 made me really wish I had gotten one...

Nope wasnt me :) Hey what day are you doing this? and are you doing it on base? I have a welding mask and gloves grinder ect, if you let me know what you need and if you need it tomorrow I will call Nick and have him bring it to work tomorrow.

It was a white 60 with a brush guard just like yours, small world I guess haha.

I'm going to try and do it tomorrow, as long as they have everything I need equipment-wise and it's in proper working order. You never really know with that place. The only thing I can see them seriously lacking is a good grinder or welding mask. Really hoping it's not one of those ones that you have to hold in front of your face with one hand.
If you don't mind letting me borrow a couple things, I'd only need them for the one day. I think the mask and grinder would come in handy. I wanted to be able to grind the welds down and strip the paint off quickly and thoroughly. I can PM you my number if you'd like.

I'd show up and lend a hand but I'm the NCOIC of this damned baggage detail that starts at 0230 this morning. LOL Should be fun times.

Ill shoot nick a text and see if he can grab a grinder and mask in the morning. Yah pm me your # and I will text you in the morning. My work is right off pac ave between gravely lake and bridgport.

Funny that guy that you saw stopped me at the commissary to tell I got a nice LC. Cool guy, but for the life of me I can't remember how he looked. I just remember how his truck looks. Kyle it really does resemble yo truck

Thats funny, Well next time you guys see him get his number, I would be nice to get some "real" landcruisers out wheeling with us hahaha, just kidding!

Well I just wanted to say congratulations to Casey who put his first dint in his cruiser, though it wasn't how he wanted to do it.

:hillbilly: Yup, haha. I'm going to try and have the dude where I was working at today paint the new door. Doesn't have to be pretty, but the same color would be nice, at least. I'm planning on picking up where I left off tomorrow, after I dick around with that new door some more. If I can at least get the passenger side done, I'll be happy. Should be able to work on it more on Wednesday or Thursday. Friday I'm going to Germany for leave until the end of the month.

A little late here with the welcome, but Welcome! I just met a lot of these guys for the first time last weekend, and they are all awesome. Quick to lend a hand when needed.

Have fun in Germany and enjoy the beer!

Thanks, man.

An update on the rig:
Passenger side has two coats of duplicolor on it, probably will do two more. New door is prepped for paint, will get primered on thurs. I'll have to finish the rest when I get back. Tried to get the other door to open, ripped (to shreds) the inner panel off and (broke) the outer door handle, triggered the latch with a screwdriver. Still won't let go. I don't know what's going with it. Feel like cutting it off at this point, I was really raging today. This thing was pretty nice... Until I got my hands on it, haha. I may take it to a body shop to fix the other door, in theory they'll be able to fix whatever damage they do when getting it open. But now I need a new door card and other stuff that isn't that importan.
