What diesel engine and adapter are you going with?

i've been debating for over a year (yes I have only owned the cruiser 6 months) i had have a 4bt cummins that i kept from my jeep and have a dodge cummins truck. so cummins was the engine, period (even though I really considered an Isuzu 4BD1T or 4BD2T as an alturnative).

went back an forth on tranny but settled on the stock A343 might have to end up going with a 93-95.5 A442 but time will tell. i love manuals but my wife doesn't drive them and i have never had a vehicle she can drive. so in an effort to make this a good all around use expedition style I am forced to learn about autos.

I had started talking to a machine shop up in portland and he now sells through Jonesy's auto group for this particular adapter, which obviously raised the price I wasn't to happy.

I need to check, but pretty sure that I have a low milage a442 in the garage.....

That could be nice. I might even like to borrow it to for comparison during the swap for future reference. It's always good to have a backup plan

well trying to wind down after the sump pump stopped working. of course you always notice it right before going to bed or leaving town. this one being right before bed. shop vac and mopped pulled the carpet out from around the edges and removed the carpet pad the most i could.

who decided carpet in a basement was a good idea anyway? the Carpet King? know i always wanted to pull the carpet for an epoxy flooring so i guess it's going to happen sooner than later.

and on to the cruiser.....

slow progress over the last month. i did get the 3" exhaust from the down tube over the frame rail and out the back above the rear cross member pretty much complete. when the diesel goes in the front passenger side body mount will get cut off and moved up so no lift puck will be needed and give more room for the rocker skid and 3" down tube. but for now it's a loud cat-less 3" down tube back. not going to lie it's a little obnoxious for my liking. the cats did bring $140 in scrap though so i was happy.

rear bumper is coming along also. only have the top tube bent up but it follows the body closely with some complex 3D bends and the rest should come together pretty quickly once i find the time to do it.

have the 4bt to toyota auto tranny adapter now but haven't spent any time looking at details. collected a few 4bt accessories that will help in making the ac and vacuum systems like brakes work and what not.

also started an electric fan shroud. been running without a fan all winter and figure i better get some cooling going for it before the spring and summer decides to get here all at once.

I think I saw your rig at the BP station at 151st and 69 hwy yesterday. Blue looked awesome. Rear bumper made it look so different. Cool.

I"ll take em in for ya! there's a place in lee's summit I take em to. Jap cats are worth BANK.. it's on my way home.. and well worth the trip. normal steel i give my neighbor.. Cats? I recycle myself.

Hijack over....

I was at the Phillips 66 station late afternoon yesterday. Only one tube for the bumper right now so it does look very different and minimalist. Hope it doesn't get to cluttered but will put a little higher quarter panel protecter on it as we'll

stop by next time i live a few blocks from there.

thanks for the kind words. hope to have the bumper finished soon. i thought to myself as i was filling the cruiser sunday after 240 miles that tank that it might be the last tank of unleaded i put in it.... it is motorcycle weather. i only put 5k on my truck last year and about 4k were work related and paid miles. and about 7k on the bike. can't complain about that.

I was going to stop, but "thought" that I was late for a meeting. When I got there, I sat and waited for 10 minutes, so I was kicking myself for not stopping.

Anyway, it looked good.

Well been working on the house lately but also found some time this week to work on the rear bumper. Can't decide if I want to put some rear wing/quarter panel protection on it. A bunch of gussets and frame mounts left but you get the picture

Get this bumper finished and replace the tranny in my truck. And the diesel swap will start. I re did the fuel curves on my truck and started immediately floating the clutch. I guess that's what 400hp and 800 ftlbs of torque will do to a stock clutch.

1/4 protection would be idea, you may look into tying the wings into the frame somehow, they look like one good landing would push them into the 1/4

ya it's getting front frame mounts. there is some rust behind there so the bottom 3-4 inches of the body on the rear 1/4 is getting chopped off and the frame mounts should be able to be a straight shoot, nice and flat.

I keep going back and forth on the upper 1/4 protection. it's already got rust it's not like i'm trying to keep it mint. but i know smashing a tail light becomes a pain as well.
