Greetings from Leadville, CO! We joined the 100-series club back in July when we sealed the deal on our 2005 LX 470 with 87,000 miles--a Texas truck that took a detour to Colorado and is about as clean and original as one could hope for, right down to the factory first aid kit. Paul described her as a real "pearl" with regard to condition, and since she has the fantastic Blizzard Pearl paint, Pearl feels like the right name. I've been lurking since October of 2022 when we started looking for a 100-series, and Mud has been an incredible resource both pre- and post-purchase.

Pearl is in line for her 90,000-mile service. In the meantime we've been enjoying Mosquito Pass, Weston Pass, and other roads in the in the local high country. Current additions include a Yakima MegaWarrior basket on the factory rack; thru-bumper OEM hitch receiver; Tow Points rear recovery point with Trail Tailor front recovery points; Yankum Ropes recovery gear and Viair compressor in the back; Element fire extinguisher; Fiskars shovel mounts on the the basket when we're in the backcountry. Planned additions include WeatherTech Lampgard PPF and stronger tires to replace the (otherwise excellent) 275/60r18 Michelin Defender LTX M/S that are showing some significant chunking from the sharp rocks we're driving right now. ActionTrax on Axia Alloys mounts are probably due as we anticipate more time in Utah this winter. The long-term plan probably includes Slee SliderSteps, but that won't be for a while--we have two littles who like the puddle lights and still really need the running boards for entry and egress!

The point of this truck and all additions are family fun. There's nothing like being able to drive a beautiful, historic mining road above treeline and find a place for kiddos to enjoy some 4th-class scrambling. Opening up the world of dispersed camping and longer distance treks in neighboring states' BLM land is also a goal. We're excited to see where this adventure leads!

Some pictures from just after bringing her home nearly two months ago:
