Hey everyone,
I’ve been cyber-stalking Cruisers for years now. Last weekend, I was finally been able to get my 2004 Discovery running well long enough to sell it - really. After over $16,000 worth of warranty work within a 12 month period, I literally dropped off the Rover to the buyer and had them drive me to the airport to go pick up my “new” 80. So, while it is still technically in Austin getting the birfs done (I have no space for a job like that), I do own it!!!!!
Hell Yeah!
I am really excited to finally have a vehicle that I can trust in the wilderness so I can get back out and go camping. I look forward to meeting some Land Cruiser locals and, if anyone is interested in Big Bear sometime in August, we are hoping to get out there for an inaugural run.

Here is a link to the ad for it. I keep hitting the KB limit when I try to post pics.
https://forum.ih8mud.com/vehicles-t...sliders-arb-m12000-4-88s-35-mtrs-lockers.html

It just needs a;
fridge
sleeping/storage platform where the rear seats used to be
on board air
secondary electrical system for things like inverters, additional plugs etc,
Laptop platform
seat covers
on board water system
dual battery
home-brew awning
home-brew ninja kitchen set up
dog ramp (big, old dogs + tall truck = sucky)
tons of little odds and ends that I will never finish

Good thing the girlfriend already knew I am a dork. I'd hate for her to have to find out this way.

Love this list. With the birf's being done, looks like you picked up a good truck!

For a sleeping/storage platform, check out slo60's drawers. Jeff Kaufman is the master at beautiful and sturdy drawers IMHO. He's getting back into the business. He's doing a DIY kit this go around to save you a little $$. There are others including our very own Hawkeye here in Socal too starting to build drawers. I haven't personally seen Hawkeye's drawers, but pics look very nice. Lots of great info in the 80's FAQ section and way to many ideas in all the ROTW threads. Mods in the 80's section have done a fantastic job in the FAQ gathering mod and maintenance info for us 80 owners. Start reading an welcome!!! :flipoff2:

Thanks everyone (:flipoff2:),
Needing the Birfs done was part of the reason I picked this truck. I figure just subtract the cost of getting them done off the purchase price and it is all a wash. That way I know they have been done, when and by who. I owned a Rover too long not to be paraniod!
Yes, there are some really nice parts already installed. That was another reason I went with this one. All the big, pain in the butt stuff was done and I can just do the little things like seat covers when I am able.
The last reason was my girlfriend rolled her eyes when I showed her a mildly built 4Runner I was thinking about and said "Don't be a :censor:, Tyler. Just get a damn Cruiser and be done with it". Yeah, she's a keeper.
As for storage options, I am going to give it a try myself. I built a set for my Rover and ended up hating them. I want to try a totally different aproach that replaces both rows of rear seats with a modular welded aluminum frame, light weight sides, intergrated water system and a mid-platform portion that flips up the make an ad hoc couch (facing out the back with your feet resting on the folded down tailgate).
That way when I inevitably decide I should have just bought a set, I'll be too frustrated to be upset at the cost!

very nice and congrats. now just open your wallet and dump it out so you can feed the modification addiction like the rest of us do...

I know you are right about the leather and foam. I was thinking of seat covers as a temporary "fix" until I can find a decent deal on either new leather or a used seat(s) in serviceable condition. They aren't quite as bad as they look in the photos, but they certainly aren't good.

I think you are going to need more than just a seat cover. It looks like new foam and leather! Do it right the first time is the lesson I have learned in my 3 years of ownership!

P.S. WELC:flipoff2:ME

Welcome on Tyler.

I briefly owned a '96 Disco 1 and quickly dumped it. Never did run right. Horrible car.

Now you can spend all your money on fun things.
