imagine if your 2"x 6" plate/bracket that bolts ontop of the wheel well..... is a 6 x 12 (ish) plate and the tube is welded to its bottom....
what welder are you using...?

I see....you gotta have balance, right?

I was actually going to ask if you plan on making these for both sides, I keep my spare on the passenger side. I like the simplicity of the design. I would buy one.

I'm working on a jig for the passenger side, hopefully, I'll have something together after this weekend...

Nice Job!!!

Thanks...

Mtbcoach, so are the rest of us going to be able to get one of those very nice tire holders??

That's the plan. I've got 40' of tubing, a sheet of 1/4" plate, a full tank of gas and I'm wearing dark glasses...

I'm trying to get all the small stuff in place before I take orders. I'm hoping to open a thread Monday to start a list...

Sounds good. Did I miss how much u were going to ask for this?

No, you didn't miss it. I'm still working out all the details but it will be "competitively priced"...

Thanks Jerry. Any thoughts of putting "gussets" pm on the tire mounting plate...a little extra re-enforcement:D

Yes, thought lots about making it stout, stable, secure, rattle-free and adjustable.

It is unnecessary IMHO, even with the tire/wheel hanging in air, it doesn't move. With it resting on the floor, stress on the mounting plate and leverage is greatly reduced...

Even better

Glad to know you tested the s:censor:t out of the mount.

You can see pics and vids from the trail run that had 2 of these installed (erymer and little_joe) in their rigs in the linked thread below.

The "good stuff" starts around post 200. I was unable to make the event but feel free to check out the thread so you can see the type of terrain they put the unit through.

I feel really good about it and wouldn't offer it unless I did...

Sign me up for one of these please!

Why would you want your spare in the cabin? I don't get it. There's not enough room in this itty bitty rig in the first place. I understand not having it in the stock location, but what is wrong with a bumper mount? Theft?

i dont have 2500 bucks to shell out for a bumper just to carry my spare tire in an optimal position. if i could get a rear bumper with tire carrier i totally would.

Weight (the further behind the axle it is the more leverage it has).

Protection from sun/elements.

Not having to hassle with swing outs every time you want in the back. (And if you're backed up against an obstacle/object, you can't get in the back.)
