SOLD

During one of my parts hunting trips in Europe I found this brand new 2F shortblock pn 11401-69056.This part has been discontinued from Toyota for a long time now and was the oem replacement for 84-87 FJ60 2F's.I found this at a Cruiser specialist in Europe that had already installed new pistons and a used crank in it but the customer never came up with the money so it sat there for a few years before I found it.

The last Toyota price for just the shortblock that I could find from a reputable seller was around 3500$ back in the days that you could still get this,no pistons ,crank or the biggest factor labor to rebuild it so I am pricing this one at 4500$ which I believe is a good deal for a rare "holy grail" part and probably is about the same as rebuilding your 30 year old 2F.

Take a look at the pictures,I took it out of the box for the pics and inmediatly put it back in there.

Wow.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH wow.

Sexy, but I believe the pistons (and rods if I am seeking the wrist pin retaining bolt in the second pic) are installed in the wrong orientation. The notch in the piston top should face forward, and the wrist pin bolt / oiler hole should face the camshaft side of the block. Not trying to knock it, just caught my eye so I figured I'd double check in a couple FSMs. For what it's worth, the 81-87 2F manual I have shows correctly in the figures (notch forward) but the text says to install with the notch facing the back.

Are the pistons flat tops or domed?

I have no knowledge about these 2F's since I normally focus on Diesel parts. What I do know is that the guy I bought it from worked as a mecanic at a Toyota stealership for many years before starting his own Cruisershop about 15 years ago where 80% of the work they do is mecanical.Pretty sure it us build to fsm spec but as you mention pics show it one way and text the other so there is about 50 % chance either if you is ginna be right.

Now if it was a 2 stroke I could see an issue ;)

Wow.

Friday bump

Bump and going on Ebay soon.

Open to offers ,I would like to see this go to a good home.

I am a good home, however my offer would be a lot less than you want for it. Did anyone figure out what direction the notch should be on the Piston? I would be concerned that it would have to be torn apart to change the direction.

Where are you located in TX? I'm in Houston. Certainly interested...

Serious offers will be considered.......and you just sold a few NOS parts so timing works out ;)

That is what I was thinking!
Let see if the other guy close to you is a player since he is local and I need it shipped.. If that does not materialize, let me know and we will see what we can work out.

You don't happen to have a fj40 lx top plate right now do you?

I did look it up. It states in the manual that the notch in the piston should face forwards, and the oil hole in the connecting rod should face the camshaft side.

it'd be easy enough to undo the 12 bolts and flip them right way round...
