Will do Romer, I'm going on a epic trip to DV for a week so I'll get some good snaps and real testing of the HQ product.

I look forward to seeing it this week James!

Nice set up!

BTW, I'll have some carnitas with me...not my own, but a pretty decent store-bought stand-in ;)

FirstToy,

Looking forward to your review after some good use and the fix for the whistle.

Just so everybody thinks about it, you're not allowed to carry fuel outside your vehicle in the Peoples Republic of Washington state (for example) Everybody should research their own state and make sure that you know the laws....

In fact the law here in Warshington isnt all that clear either, but that doesnt stop the staters from pulling you over and giving you the business......

 so what if you're from out of state, then?

any responsible interstate traveler should check with the laws of the states that they are traveling through...

and yes...I do check for crap like this before I leave the state :flipoff2:

I really dig the canibus shrubs.

Here are pics of the HQ bumper in action. After rocks, mud, recovery, camp duty and miles & miles of harsh washboard vibrations I can say it is rock solid.
I will hazard to guess the crazy washboard is the most hard on your vehicle so if that isn't loosening something, you're doing pretty good.

The carrier worked perfect for my hot shower setup.

One (David) has the swingouts reversed as mentioned earlier in this thread

The Dude has Slee4 and 35's as well as Maggiola roof tent

Oh yes, I forgot to mention I put the stock resonator back on and solved the noise issue (stock exhaust system). Extending/turning down the tip does nothing except make the noise louder.

So, other states in the West besides WA (per above) that ban the carrying of gas cans on the outside?

I've only searched Cali Vehicle Code and I can't find any regulations on gas containers on a vehicle other than an aux tank must be plumbed into the EVAP system.

Of course that doesn't mean there isn't anything, just that I can't find it, and yes I like to read Vehicle Codes in my spare time. ;)

James,

After seeing the bumper in person, it is very stout and impressive. Now, if only we can make those swing outs more removal friendly!

I recall seeing your fire extinguisher mounted to the fridge, can you please post a picture of your setup?

Thanks!

Firstoy I too got back from DV last Tuesday but dam those washboards in DV are a nightmare. We did over 300 miles of trails in two days. What is all this talk about a whirling noise? I cut my exhaust off at the frame where it exits into the passenger wheel well and have never heard a thing. Guess what I am going to be doing now on the way to work tomorrow?

Jasper, I'll take a pic of the fridge when the rain stops. The swingouts come off w/ one giant bolt and cotter pin. I plan to take off the jerry can holder most of the time. Hanna has a little cap for it.

Newps, when you accelerate there is a "whistle" sound from the tailpipe w/o the resonator. Maybe it depends on the vehicle..

Dumb question:

How do you use a hi lift on the rear bumper?

Seems like the spare tire and gas cans would be in the way.

I've used a "D-shackle/clevis-pin shackle" attached to the recovery point and jacked from there.

Looks Great! Ken Hanna is the Fawkin' man when it comes to quality armor for cruisers. I just wish he made sliders and a rear bumper for my tacoma as i would buy them in a heart beat! Hint Hint.....Hanna are you reading this......?????

lol, I missed that earlier. They are podacarpis bushes :grinpimp:

Yes, like Doug and Sputnik said just open and jack from a D-shackle

My pennies are almost all saved up for the Hanna rear bumper! Just a few more pennies!

Anyone know the approximate weight of the Hanna rear bumper with tire carrier and 3 can carrier?
