It's been a while that I've had these on.

The more I drive with them, the more I love 'em both on/off road.

I cannot believe how well they stick to pavement in dry/wet conditions. Much much better than my last two sets of AT's, albeit a touch louder.

Went through a nice ravine filled with water n' mud. Ended up actually floating sideways. I swear these things have paddles on them.

Keeping up the thumbs on this one.

bump ... to those running the new MT/Rs for over 6 months, what's your take on them now? Any damage, sidewall cuts, etc?

That van in post #45 & 50 rocks!

How do the new MTR's compare to the old ones? I had a set on my AWD Heep Grand Cherokee and they were great.

Are these louder or quieter due to the new tread?

As I recall, my MTR's got significantly louder after about 30k miles on them. I am assuming the same here due to it being a MT.

Can anyone confirm this?

13,000 miles and going strong.

Tread life is amazing for a soft compound.

Tracks excellent in rain, snow, slush.

Ice is 'okay' which is obvious. It's not a dedicated snow/ice tire, but it's predictable which is important to me in the winter.

On roads with black ice, it's comparable to my yokohama at's a few years ago.

I love these tires.

They are the best All Terrain tire I've driven on. They are not a fullon mud tire, but more aggressive for an AT. Kind of in between.

Just make sure you rotate them religiously.

And they are NOT directional.

Black wall out

I just installed a set of the new MT/R w/Kevlar tires on my LC 100. They are installed with the blackwalls facing out. According to my Goodyear dealer, this is okay. I also have a new set on my work rig, a 2003 Jeep TJ. They are installed with the whitewalls out. I guess we'll see which way works better.

The Landcruiser has 275/70-18s
The Jeep 31X10.5/15s

When I bought these last summer, raised white letter out was gospel.
The look "grew" on me I guess. Kinda old school.

They're "supposed" to be installed with the tread oriented as shown in the above picture. Don't know if it makes a difference, though.

Glad to hear the good reviews- i have had the old style MT/R's on my 80 for about 3 years or 15K miles and frankly they look brand new- I have made 3 trips to Tennessee from Orlando on these tires and they ride great around 75mph- Only complaint is i have a wobble from about 40-48mph that they cannot balance out-

i am going to try a set of the new style 33X12.50 R15's for my 40 as well...

I have the same wobble.... With new rims. I just go faster.

yea that wobble is my only complaint- i bet if i moaned anough i could get a free tire out of goodyear to replace the out of round tire- but like u said i just try not to ride in that range and they are smooth-

I have seen a few black outside running around town. It seems to me that you would get a bit more "clawing" action in certain off camber/rutted situations with the outside of the tire when mounted OWL to the outside but a bit more stability cornering on blacktop with the the OWL facing inside. Probably not very noticeable in real life.

Some sizes are all BWL. I'm running the 315/75R16 and they have no white lettering.

By OWL I meant the "outside" tread pattern regardless of whether the tire is in a size that has actual white lettering or not.

RWL (raised white letters) is always IWL (inside white letters) for me! Except for the rwl that came stock on the Taco, and I'm trying to wear those wimpies out.

I'm not crazy about the new MT/R design, but I will more than like buy another set to replace my old ones when they wear out.

Been running these tires since Nov/09 and absolutely love them. Snow, mud, rock, you name it and I've been thru it and over it without any issues. The sidewalls are also tough and where my old BFG ATs would get scarred and tattered, these do not have any indication that they've been offroad at all. Would buy another set tomorrow if needed.
