New Brake Disappointment

Save your time and money and just purchase the PFC Brakes and be done with it. They were designed for the armored 200 Series and work awesome. The two piece rotor design eliminated all the warping and vibration issues I was having. These things work extremely well. For those with deeper pockets they also offer a complete BBK for front and rear.

Those look trick.

I've had my TRD pads and new OEM rotors for about 1500 miles now. Love them. Lots of dust and lots of feel and confidence. Of course they don't have the wonderful modulation you get from the German cars but they also don't have a German price-tag.

Let's see how long the rotors last from the aggressive pads.

I would have gotten these if I had known about them last month :bang:
Do they fit with 17" TRD wheels?

As best I can determine, stock size rotors are only available for the front. I can find no place that sells these. Can you point me to a source?

TIA

Call PFC Brakes directly. I'm running the set up with 18" wheels but the diameter is Stock so 17" should work.
I installed them roughly 5 years ago and I'm still on my first set of pads. Under hard braking it feels like the LC is going to flip over the nose, awesome performance.

As I put together a list of mods I might want to do the brakes seems to be a big issue for many. Anyone compare the tundra swap to the PFC brakes?

Anyone know approximate cost differential? Anyone had experience with both and can comment on pros/cons of each?

PFC doesn't list prices on their website.

2 piece rotors are typically $. May be overkill for a LC.

I think I see these listed for $528 per rotor- price is in euros.

Stock pads and DBA slotted rotors and I am real happy with them. You could probably switch to Tundras and stop better, but I don't see why I would need that and I tow a 4000lb camper

@Romer what are the part #s for your rotors? I'm going to do my second set of brakes. The first I had the stock rotors machined and went back with stock pads. I would like to try something new

Just got off the phone with PFC and they said you can't get them. :(

Part numbers are in this thread - Brake parts 2008-2010 or is it to 2015 and Rotor Pad discussion

(I'm not being lazy by making you chase them down, I just don't want to copy/paste and make a mistake! Also good tips in the thread on where to buy and when due to available discounts)

I just did OEM rotors F/R within the last year (55k when fronts were done, 65k when rears were done) but am planning on the DBA route (or better?) when I need to do it next time. And if I'm honest with myself, I probably won't wait until they're 'needed' but likely doing this upgrade this summer. Like others, I'm not inspired with the stock setup and looking for something better but not willing to dive into a Tundra swap.

I searched and couldn't find a deticated brake discussion. All of the threads I found were in "What have you done to your 200" and they were mentions.

Thanks for find it for me :)

They are also on Slee Offroads web site. They have them in stock

OEM pads and

rotors had lots left at 84k but warped bad. Bad under heavy braking and heat. Did Terrain Tamer rotors and pads and have been very pleased. Only a couple K on them but braking is great. Will be hauling a bit this summer and update then.

Since I posted earlier in this thread with some braking "complaints", I though I should follow up that the OEM brakes did break in. By about 2000 miles, my '17 had acceptably linear brakes and overall excellent braking performance. It can STOP, even when towing an unbraked 1500 lb utility trailer.

I am about to begin testing a 358 x 34mm directional vane rotor. It is a 2 piece hat mounted unit that should be relatively affordable compared to most 2 piece systems. The stock rotor is 354 x 32mm. I'll post more shortly.
